I have 30 years in the trucking industry and well over 2 million incident free miles driven. This upcoming spring, I'm letting the CDL endorsement drop. As someone with a bit of a health issue and restricted to a 1 year medical card, the amount of medical hoops I have to go through to stay compliant just aren't worth it for me anymore.
All that being said, the fact that these non-domiciled CDLs are being issued like candy to non-English speaking foreigners here on visas or here illegally makes my blood boil.
Try to do the right thing and it's an uphill battle.
Circumvent the legal channels as an outsider and it's easy as pie to get behind the wheel.
It's open season on America's highways.

DOT inspectors log the trucks and trailers on inspection records. From those records, we can match truck #S147 and trailer #8084 to this carrier.

A recurring pattern I've identified is the use of a spouse's name when registering a new authority . . . This tactic serves to obscure relational ties between carriers, allowing them to evade exact-match searches within the USDOT/FMCSA system and thereby complicating the detection of repeat offenders.
The previous trucking co. was registered to "SIMRANJIT SINGH." Another related trucking co. is registered to "HARPREET SINGH." And another one registered to "KINDERBIR SINGH."
I've reviewed jail booking records in the area, and so far, there is no corresponding arrest report or booking entry for either individual. Per local news articles, no charges have been filed.

Every industry is getting eaten up by cheap foreign alternatives.
America is on the way to becoming a cheap 3rd world country.

This is an easy scapegoat. The reality is there are so many creature comforts designed for American citizens to park their ass on the couch which leads to travel/labor intensive jobs being no longer appealing to them. A Somali dude doesn't care about what's coming out on Netflix Tuesday or which team plays Sunday night football. Trucking companies are not dealing with a surplus of labor supply and just choosing the cheapest option.

The 2022 SIPP indicates that 54 percent of households headed by immigrants naturalized citizens, legal residents, and illegal immigrants used one or more major welfare program. This compares to 39 percent for U.S.-born households.
Compared to households headed by the U.S.-born, immigrant-headed households have especially high use of food programs (36 percent vs. 25 percent for the U.S.-born), Medicaid (37 percent vs. 25 percent for the U.S.-born), and the Earned Income Tax Credit (16 percent vs. 12 percent for the U.S.-born).

Just because your kid is a bum doesn't mean you go ahead and pay college tuition for the neighbor's kid. What you do is be responsible, man up, be a parent for your own kid, beat the crap out of them as needed, and discipline him/her and teach them to take on the world.
Imagine a world where every parent ran away from their responsibilities and took the easy route.

Good info. I'm not sure how the job crunch is happening to create the lack of driver situation we're in, and it seems you do, my point still stands that it's not currently set up for a typical US citizen to apply for and get and be happy with their career. And given your info, it's clear a free market (or anything close to it) isn't flowing to support that either.
There are niche companies and situations where people can earn well of course, but by and large I completely agree with your post.
