How long do you want to ignore this user?

Full X Post:

Just in case you needed anymore evidence that the @PimaSheriff should resign, effective immediately. The entire church debacle that caused yet another delay in investigative efforts by people on the ground was really a friend of Nancy's who was expecting her that Sunday morning, to watch a livestream of Savannah's church in NY in her home.

8 days later we get clarification, and the clarification didn't come from the sheriff.

I haven't been following this very closely until yesterday but here's an outsiders take.. I'm not sure how the case started but this is how it feels…

It was a missing person at first. When it's an adult, it's treated different than a child however with her disabilities and medical needs, it's more of Priority. The sheriff is an elected figurehead who likely doesn't know half of what his deputies do when it comes to law enforcement and investigations.

It seems they did a poor job on the initial missing person report (if that's what it was). The FBI doesn't do anything with those. Once a ransom note appears, they go back and check the house again and now they find possible evidence of foul play. Then the FBI joins in. Now it's just an s show and a lot of it doesn't make sense.

Deputy Dawg didn't coordinate with the feds until much later, great. Even if someone or some people get arrested later, the trial is going to be a **** show. The crime scene areas may as well have been a walmart store with all the people all over the place, that back and forth, no video footage.

According to reports his most senior investigator on this case has only TWO YEARS experience. Brian Entin interview a former 29 year veteran of the Pima S.O. who spent 7 years as the lead homicide investigator, but was forced to retire when the current sheriff took office. He said there is nothing but a bunch of rookies working this case because the sheriff feels threatened by experience officers. He said the current sheriff has been with the department for 20 years, most of it in corrections, in other words he was a jailer. That would explain A LOT.

How long does it take to kidnap an old frail lady?

It was 40 or so minutes from the cameras being disabled to when she likely left the house when her pacemaker left effective range. If you were going to kidnap someone, it would take, what? 10 minutes max?

Whole thing is so strange.

You must not deal much with old ladies. Women never do anything fast regarding leaving their homes. And that increases exponentially with age.

She would have had to pee, get dressed, pee, have an ensure, pee, take her blood sugar, pee, find her purse, pee, gather her meds, pee, get her cane, pee.

There was a 20 minute gap between the removal of the camera and the moment motion was detected on a different sensor according to a report I read. One of the retired cop analysts said it could be someone testing whether there was some type of alarm that would alert police when the camera was removed. They pulled it down then waited 20 minutes to see if anything happened and when cops didn't arrive the entered the house

Harris Faulkner reporting that the pool guy, landscapers, others are being asked to submit DNA for comparison to results found inside the home.

One thing complicating any theories that involve caregivers, sister and BIL of Savannah, etc is that there DNA would be expected in the home. So whilst those people cannot be excluded, it offers no determination of their complicity.

The easiest conclusion here though, is to determine if there is DNA that cannot be explained in the home. A sample that does not belong to a contractor or other person that had been granted legitimate access.

Oh I think it's a legit question as to why Savannah reach out to Mark Kelly. Which is particularly odd since she has known the current Attorney General of the USA for 30+ years.

Why would SG not call Bondi first and instead calls Mark Kelly? Maybe she thought Nancy was taken by aliens and that an astronaut would be the best 1st call?

Cliffs notes for those of us without the twitter?

Here are the cliff notes of what veteran homicide investigator Paul Ciolino said in the New York Post video interview regarding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie (mother of Savannah Guthrie):

  • He does not believe she was kidnapped: "I don't think she was kidnapped." He repeatedly states it's not a genuine abduction.
  • No proof-of-life evidence: In real kidnappings, captors provide proof like photos, videos, or other verification that the victim is alive and in their custody. None has appeared here.
  • No negotiations or follow-up contact: Legitimate kidnappers typically negotiate, make phone calls, or follow up demanding payment quickly. There have been no calls asking "where's my money?" or similar pressure, which hasn't happened because "nobody's kidnapped her."
  • Lack of planning by supposed kidnappers: Kidnappers grabbing her medication on the way out shows poor preparation and doesn't make sense for professionals.
  • No forensic evidence: There's a "total lack of forensic evidence" of anyone entering the house, grabbing her, or signs of a struggle/abduction inside.
  • Overall red flags: The case lacks key hallmarks of a real kidnapping, suggesting the scenario is staged or not what it appears. He implies investigators (including the FBI) have "got nothing" substantial, as seen in ongoing but fruitless efforts like roof surveillance and helicopters.
These points align with broader skepticism in coverage, where he advises the family to prepare for the worst outcome rather than holding out for a kidnapping resolution. The video is a short clip emphasizing these doubts based on his decades of experience (including with 48 Hours and CBS News).

I think you could add the words "that we know of" to the end of the first sentence in each of his bullets after the first one and his analysis falls apart. We know they removed at least one camera. We know there were signs of resistance/blood inside based on early reports. Just because police have not shared any of the rest of what he mentioned doesn't mean they don't have it.

Could this have been a robbery attempt that ended in murder, and they removed the body? The note was cover or an add on by others?

They were there for about 2 hours.

  • Newly appointed Jon Edwards is identified as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Tucson Field Office. His resume is that he has been involved in high-profile local investigations, such as the search for missing individuals, emphasizing the importance of public tips and leads. Introduces himself as Assistant Special Agent in Charge.
  • The sheriff says he didn't know the Savannah Guthrie video was made until his wife showed him.
  • Seems FBI is in control now.
  • FBI says first demand in ransom note is 5pm today and then there is another deadline of next Monday.
5:00 p.m. - Deputies are canvassing the neighborhood near Annie Guthrie's house.
5:08 p.m. - New video from Nancy Guthrie's son, posted right after the 5pm ransom deadline.

Fri Feb 6
New ransom email sent to local TV station, and forwarded to FBI
  • The FBI and Pima County Sheriff's Department acknowledge they are aware of a new message regarding Nancy Guthrie. Investigators are actively inspecting the information provided in the message for its authenticity.
  • The second note went to KOLD tv station in Tucson.
They say the IP address is NOT the same IP address as the initial note, but it appears the sender used the same type of secure server to hide their IP address. The new note contains something the senders seem to think will prove to investigators they're the same people who sent the first note.
  • The new note did not have any new ransom demands or provide a way for the Guthrie family to communicate with the sender, according to KOLD News Director.
6:06 p.m. - FBI investigation team are back at Nancy Guthrie's house. They are closing down the road and moving all media out for "investigative purposes." Setting up a perimeter closing off entire block.

Sat Feb 7

8:10 a.m. - FBI Crime Scene Forensics Unit arrives at Nancy's house
1:57 p.m. - FBI leaves Nancy;s house with evidence boxes
6:35 p.m. - Savannah Guthrie releases new video - says they received a new message and will pay.
10:42 p.m. - FBI Forensics team at Annie Guthrie's house. Camera flashes are coming from inside windows, investigators remain inside for just over 3 hours.

Sun Feb 8

5:00 p.m. - Monday deadline come and gone and nothing reported happening
6:00 p.m. - The FBI is not aware of any continued communication between the Guthrie family and suspected kidnappers, nor have we identified a suspect or person of interest in this case at this time.

I agree with this. Because the daughter is a celebrity, it's taken on a life on its own. Some idiot gave a bogus letter to TMZ. That's a nothing burger. Unfortunately, it's a burglary gone wrong. Robbers panicked, killed her, and buried the body. IMO.
