Two questions:
1. As far I know, the FBI lab doesn't charge. Why pay for the private lab.
2. Arizona doesn't have a state run lab like DPS does here?
No, they do have a crime lab under their state DPS.

President Trump just asked why the FBI hasn't taken over the Nancy Guthrie case.

His response: "They didn't want to let go of it."

I have an issue with these Sheriff's, an elected official wearing 4 stars on their collar like a Military General. I have to be the only one.

That's a stupid explanation from the fbi. They don't need the local sheriff to release evidence and certainly not authority. They can assume authority and confiscate any evidence. They are the senior law enforcement agency in the country.

Just curious, why? Law enforcement uses military rank systems. Corporals, sergeants, majors, lieutenants, captains, etc. What should the sheriff's insignia be?

See Trumps comments. He has elected not to take it over. Certainly he can, says it should be up to the locals to decide who they want to lead it.

I just turned on Jlr investigation. Are they in the right area. Someone sending them on hoax?

I would think once the ransom note went to TMZ, the FBI could argue they have jursdiction then.

True. But guess they are more concerned about optics. FBI didn't botch this case as much as the state authorities did.
If the Pima County officials want the blame here, so be it. Not at all happy about that but when politics get int the way of criminal investigations, crap happens.
Two people have been dragged out of a home and are being detained .. stay tuned

Mark Kelly has been on the ground with some anonymous handler hanging over the Pima County Sheriff, and he's been saying he has 100% confidence in the Sheriff's office handling the case, so I would guess he's the one stirring up friction.
Although others have pointed out that the Sheriff has a history w/ the FBI.
