Just a guess: the intelligence risk assessment on Iran (e.g., assassinations to dirty bombs) must have been strong to make President Trump deviate from "no foreign wars."

Also worthy of note that the President acknowledged that this will be ongoing and is a "high risk, high reward" operation.

Regardless of politics, let's pray we end up with an Iran that is no longer a state sponsor of terrorism or a nuclear threat.

Neutering Venezuela and iran is massive progress to world peace. Your talking abiut 2 nations thay are key funders for most of the world's troublemakers.

The Abraham accords will be implemented. Hamas loses its funding.

Cuba is going to fail. Other central and south american countries are getting in line (see, Colombia).

This action is absolutely massive towards america safety and foreign policy goals.

That's it. Keeping the nuclear peace is an on-going process. It will never be over. The complaint of "I'm tired of wars" is naive.

I don't think he is a viable option. He can be a unifying figure after things stabilize, but he doesn't have sufficient domestic support to takeover.

More likely something similar to Tunisia 2011 or Egypt 2013.

Not sure there are sufficient moderates in the IRGC, so more likely some combination of the Artesh ( regular Army) and reformists politicians.

No. Schumer supported Obama's 2011 Libya intervention as "limited in scope and time," backed his 2013 Syria strike proposal, and praised the drone program for "decimating" al-Qaeda in Yemen and elsewhere. He did not demand War Powers resolutions, full congressional briefings, or warn of "fitful lashing out" and endless wars as he has now on Trump's Iran strikes.
