I have a very good friend that I've known since middle school. He's an old school Dem (liberal, not progressive). He was glad that Talerico won because he was sick of the Dem party electing people based on race & gender. I didn't have the heart to tell him what a loon Talerico is based on his own tweets/sermons. I'll save that for our discussions later during the general.

Crockett really should have made a bigger stink during the whole FCC fairness spectacle and the Colbert Show.

There is so much wrong with what he just said.

First of all...it was not included in the Bible, and removed. It was discovered in 1945. The author is unknown, though the author credits it as the writings of Thomas. It was never part of the Canonical scriptures we know today. There are a lot of reasons for that, and is a book of sayings attributed to Jesus...but is absolutely not a Gospel account.

Secondly, his comment completely twists the saying. The writing, similar to other scripture he's twisted, is saying God is for everyone. Not just man, not just woman...there is no difference with regards to salvation. It's instruction to stop viewing them as man or woman, but a soul needing salvation.

It's actually funnier than that. The gnostic drivel in the "gospel" of Thomas was written in the second or third century (so not by the apostle Thomas) and is horribly exclusive in its idea of salvation.

The actual quote he's referring to is part of an argument stating that only men are allowed to go to Heaven and that Mary Magdalene among others must "become male" to go to Heaven.

And this genius thinks that means trans people are true heirs to Heaven.

Even if he wanted to include the book of Thomas as canon, he's taking a stance that is heretical to the book itself. He's absolutely shameless in his attempt to twist the pulpit into a tool for political gain.

I also want to know why Abbott and others endorsed the R in name only guys who voted for Burrows in the primary. We are stuck with Stan Gerdes again in Bastrop, likely because of those endorsements and the flood of outside money burying our mailboxes in mailers on his behalf.

Quoting the Gospel of Thomas as authoritative should be enough to lose the Christian vote. There's a lot of ways leftist Christians can try to twist things to their view, appealing to that book isn't one of them.

On Tuesday, 2,081,043 people voted in the Republican primary. The Dems had 2,280,958 people show up. And make no mistake about it, ALL of those 2.2 million are going to vote for Loony Boy in November. Yes, it's a primary and turnout will be higher in November, but it will be higher for both sides. Everyone needs to be spreading the word that Talarico is nuts, and reminding every single R you can find to go vote R. I think that it will be close regardless of who wins the runoff, simply because of TDS causing people to set aside reason just to spite Trump. Don't believe me? Go look at Facebook. The number of people willing to take up Talarico's side in all this is appalling. Allred hit ~5 million, I'll bet Talarico hit 5.5.

Disagree. There was a not insignificant number of Rs who didn't want to vote for Paxton or Cornyn and voted for Jasmine Crockett instead to try to keep whoever won the R primary from having to run against Talarico.
