Look for an email titles "eForms Application Submission Notification for Permit/Control No: " from when you submitted it.

You should stop wasting your time with ATF and contact your US Rep though.


Gonna need that control number when contacting the rep though

As soon as I hit whatever the ATF claims is the "average processing time" I reach out to my rep.

Shlackin- not to throw salt in a wound but you probably could have had this a couple months ago had you reached out to your rep.

I agree w/ above- I'd bet you have it in a few days

December……. January. Not much difference. Way too dang long. After looking everything up it was January.

The failure to get the hearing protection act through while GOP had control still angers me. Of course then I realize that they are all in on this crap together, and as a whole don't give two squats about the people.

The NFA Division is committed to processing all forms as quickly as possible. We ask for your understanding that completing personalized status checks for applicants significantly delays processing efforts. NFA appreciates your understanding so that our staff can remain focused on processing applications and not researching status checks. Thank you.
What we can tell you:
  • Your E-FORM(s) are currently pending.
  • We will process your E-FORM when we reach your received date in the processing queue and your NICS check has come back with a PROCEED.
  • The published average processing times are updated quarterly therefore may not always accurately reflect current processing times.
  • If you have multiple E-FORMS received on the same date, they may be approved on different days because they aren't necessarily assigned to the same examiner.
  • We do not offer batch processing on e-forms.
    • We are not able to provide you information as to whether your E-FORM has been assigned to an examiner or the status of your background.

I'm on month 6 for a paper form 1. I have called the ATF and left voicemails. no call backs. right now my banshee is disassembled waiting in my safe as I love my dogs very much

When did you submit your paperwork to SiCo for the free can? I submitted August 3rd, and mine still says "In Process".

Unfortunately the original can I bought which is still at my vendor AND my free can are both subject to the recall. Luckily, SicCo says they are working vendors to get cans they are holding sent back to SiCo for the recall repair while they are still in jail. That way customers don't have to send them in after getting the can out of jail.

They are saying paper forms are taking over 12 months. eforms are taking 5-7.

I was on hold with ATF for 50 minutes to be told that my form 1 is pending. 12 months for a form 1? It took 11 months for my form 4 in 2021

We shouldn't have a federal law enforcement agency who's mission is to act as a goon squad used to punish the political enemies of a political interest group by violating their constitutional rights. The ATF along with the NFA/GCA/Hughes Amendment need to dumped into the dustbin of history.

So not just the ATF, but the FBI, DOJ, IRS, EPA, etc. all need to be abolished.

Here is what the ATF said ~

Thank you for the inquiry. Here is the information that I was able to find for Shalackin:

1. eForm- was received on 01-31-2023. As of 11-15-2023, the application is PENDING with ATF because it is in a DELAYED status with the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).

DELAYED status with FBI/NICS could mean that there's an issue in the applicant's record, or something that needs to be corrected or clarified. ATF cannot complete the transfer without a definitive PROCEED from FBI/NICS.

I will use the release form you sent me to inquire to the FBI on your background checks and let you know what I find out.
