Good god what a cluster. I like IAH because I can get anywhere from there, but the airport itself blows. No club in B and no security there for months, but hey, you can go somewhere else and choose from TWO trains to get there!

I'm so thankful my kid is about old enough to start flying alone on Southwest. Used B always when taking her or picking her up because the unaccompanied minor check in at C was always manned by 1 person who also had all kinds of other duties.

Came in through E from Austin to B and airport looks pretty calm right now. No big crowds that I saw. E security had a decent line but not outrageous.

Security is open now at E? But no check in?

I walked past the exit from a security area leaving E towards the skyway. I assumed it was E security. Looking at the map, it was probably D. Everything is boarded up along the way so easy to get turned around.

I always went to B, but just went through D. Pre check lane up to ID, then no dedicated pre check screening (used laminated card) at 11 AM. All in all took about 10-12 minutes from curb to through security.

My other idea was to go to A and train over, but D drop off curb was about 80% free of cars. YMMV

Wife and kids are flying out of A Friday evening. Besides having to deal with the best of the best, is everything else business as usual? CLEAR still working there?

We had a great experience flying Jet Blue to Boston a couple of years ago. New plane and free Wifi.

Forgot to add, B terminal United Club also closing for renovations this month. Sorely needed but a bad deal for UA Club members who frequent B.

Wasn't a place to sit in there several of my last stops in.

I wouldn't have a lot of confidence in this, but prob worth the look in the odd chance the actually update the page if shut down. More likely it will just say < 10 minutes as nobody will be in line but it will be shut down! Good luck

Flew out of A last week. West Jet took over Southwest's downtown bus station gates at A7.

That terminal is indeed Feral. WestJet isn't a bad airline... But being banished to A...

Yeah I was looking at that and have to think it would just disappear when it's close (like E is) but I'm probably putting too much faith in TSA/IAH

Secret door at B parking past the Valet to avoid the temporary winding walkway too narrow for two carts to pass.

Of course you have to go down stairs from the Exorcist.

I actually don't mind A (usually less crowded), except for that gate at the end. I was disappointed when we flew WestJet last month, and I saw they had been reassigned to that gate.

It was worse when Southwest was there, though because SW usually had at least 2 departing planes full of people corralled down there. At least with WestJet, it was only one flight.

I think that terrible gate assignment is part of the reason why SW at IAH didn't do very well.

Will there be a United check in desk (or whatever you want to call it) in A since B is shutting down? I liked to check in at B and drop luggage there in the past when I went on long trips versus going to C.

Just keep waking straight. The steps put you out into the narrow walk between the tram tracks.

Here are the steps looking back after you walk out.

As of this morning at A, the answer is no...signs still say to check bags at B but maybe they'll adjust that once B closes?

I'm sure with B closing and forcing everyone to C United will adjust and increase the workers at C.

On a 9:40 am United flight now to Sacramento. Parked at 8:30 AM at Terminal A valet and went through TSA Clear at A and sky tramed it to E. No issues and had time to grab a Starbucks before boarding started at 9:15. Noted that Clear has new cameras that just take an image of your entire face, not just eyes or fingerprints. Didn't have to remove my eye glasses I am wearing today. That was nice.

The moral of the story is don't check a bag unless your life absolutely depends on it. If you need to check a bag, you're either stuck parking at C and checking in there or parking at A/B and taking the Disney train to C to check your bag, then training back to B if you leave out of there.

Dramatic much?
Last October I arrived at C at 7:00am on a Monday morning, walked over to a kiosk, checked in for my flight, checked and dropped off 2 bags, and was through security (Pre- check) by 7:15. The place was mad house...

December 26 heading to Vegas for the bowl game, we arrived at 12:00 noon and two of us checked bags and again through security in under 20 minutes. Then the weather hit and everything went to hell.

I stood in line longer to check in on West Jet last week in A.

None of that has anything to do with what I referenced. Terminal B lobby is about to be closed. For those of us who either a) fly out of B a lot, or b) like to park in B, go through security, and take the sky train to C/E, the closure of the B lobby is a giant pain in the ass, and checking a bag would make it even worse.

My bad. I thought you were saying C was going to take forever. Yeah, if you've still got to get back to B that's going to be a mess.

They almost need to just bulldoze the whole thing and start over. The while airport is just so incredibly patchwork and disjointed.

To me it's never how long it takes to check bags on the front end, it's how long IAH takes to get bags out when you land

At least B is a United project and not City of Houston. Should minimize downtime.
