This year is overloaded with Nations League, Gold Cup and WCQ all following a year where anyone involved in European leagues, especially those involved in CL, have played a ton of games in the past calendar year. Those guys deserve a break.

What is this in reference to?

Add to those in the European league played much later this summer too.

There's some players in MLS that would be welcome additions, if we decide to go that route. We'll see how strict they actually are about injury replacements, or if Greg even wants to bring anyone in.

So I missed the USA v Canada match. Sounded like Zimmerman went out injured. Arriola went out injured early in the first match v Haiti as well, IIRC. Could be at least 2 replacement players added to the roster ?

That's a good point about the price for 2 matches, I just don't care to watch the other game (doesn't matter who is in it).

It's actually a pretty great place to watch a game, I'd recommend sitting in the 200 level, you have great viewing angles anywhere in there. I think the lower level is too close. Even the 300 level is good, but the 200 level is the same level you walk into the stadium at.

This is only the 2nd time I can remember it being a double-header here.

I remember 2013 being a glorious double-header because it was the semi-finals. USA beat Honduras with 2 Donovan goals and then Mexico lost to Panama 2-1. That was fun, although a little scary trying to get out without getting stabbed.

Announcers have said Honduras has the speed, but Qatar seems to be quicker to me. Certainly better at finding space and moving without the ball.

Honduras is running out of bodies, lots of injuries.

Me too, they've had a very good tournament so far.

That's why I asked a few days ago if they have added nationalized foreign players on their team like many of the weaker World Cup host countries (including USA in '94) have done in the past...

Yea, FIFA is in a perpetual state of corruption, but this feels like the worst decision they have made in my lifetime.

Ignoring all of the human rights issues, the World Cup being in the winter is weird.

I have heard this author speak about corruption and have a signed copy of his book. It's a good read:

This goes into a bunch of corruption going back years - spanning from Argentina to Trinidad to Switzerland and of course gets into bribes for World Cup hosting.
