Also, I'm not offended personally by it, but I can understand that there are a group of people who legimitately are. It's not hard to remove a word from your vocabulary, or to yell something else.

This has been discussed extensively, but where are we now? Why is the chant still happening?

(a) I'm mean and want to demean people who are different than me.
(c) I don't like authority and will be defiant.
(b) The word I'm saying means something different.

It seems an odd word choice for a chant. Does anyone know the specific origin?

What if "whoop" were a pejorative in a language spoken by people who suddenly immigrated in large numbers to Texas. If coerced to do so, would we suddenly never utter it again? Traditions are unlikely to end when outsiders demand that they do.

My understanding is they chose these locations since there wouldn't be limitations. I think people just dont care to pay crazy prices to see Martinique vs Canada
I don't know what the prices are this year, but they have been pretty absurd in the past.

edit: It's a doubleheader as well, so a lot of the seats might be US/Haiti fans that will show up later.

It's also a doubleheader except for the Mexico matches, so some of these seats would be occupied by Game 2 fans.

Depends on context. I would assume with a screen name of La Bamba, you would understand Spanish, but maybe not. Puta can be a homophobic slur, depending on context, as pointed out in Kevin's post above.

I think the governing bodies have the line drawn in the sand on this one. Two stoppages of time in the waning stages of the match for a chant that has already seen action taken against the MNT should be met with a stiffer penalty. We'll see if they have any spine.
