He doesn't have to be. Manu is unrestricted and still counts 19mm against our cap until we sign him or renounce his bird rights.

I haven't been factoring that into the wolves cap situation at all. They would still have to renounce Pekovic to fit all these contracts.

MIN had about $51 Million committed before signing Budinger, and that didn't count their draft picks (Dieng, Shabazz) or Pekovic's hold. So they don't have that kind of money to offer Martin outright.

This one kinda makes sense to me. Minnesota was one of the worst 3 pt shooting teams in a long time. Worst in the league by a good margin last year. Martin and Adelman are comfortable with each other. So offensively it makes a lot of sense. But man I don't know who on that team is going to play any defense.

The Spurs front office is great at building a basketball team but (to my eyes at least) not as great at valuing players. Tim and Tony being willing to take 60-70% of what they could be making covers a lot of errors there.

So far, this offseason is pretty much treading water. Didn't draft anyone who can play right away and they are resigning everyone. If next season were the last season to ever be played, or if Duncan/Parker/Manu were 5 years younger I'd be perfectly ok with that strategy, but since neither of those are the case I would have liked to see a bridge talent or some sign of freeing up space for one next year. At some point they are going to have to drop 12-15mm per on a really good player.

Manu made 14mm last year. He already got the legacy paycheck just like Avery.
