I did. But obviously only half-assed. I checked Dwight playoff stats. He didn't play in the playoffs. So great point, either his team of turds made the playoffs without him or he gets credit for another poor first round exit.

So are you Rocket fans going to proclaim him the savior if he gets yall to the playoffs?

Well it doesn't matter what I think. I'm sure there are plenty of excuses for his behavior. Forgive me for NOT giving him the benefit of the doubt for now. He's getting his "fresh start" so let's see it.

I just find it odd that once Houston signs Howard, everybody else is so quick to point out that Howard isn't that great or isn't going to work out. It's almost like you're trying to convince yourself that he sucks. Perhaps maybe you realize that Houston could be a legit threat and don't want to admit it?

Howard has been a circus sideshow for years. Running battles in the media with his coaches in Orlando and LA, rumors of discontent spread far and wide, free agency shenanigans, the works. I've always defended his play, and defended his petulant behavior up until probably 2-3 years ago.

I still think he's a great, great player. The questions are: how long until he is unhappy in Houston, can a team keep it together as a championship contender with Howard (when he carried Orlando to the finals, they were beneficiary of a pitiful eastern conference and had no shot at the title), and will the Rockets' final roster mesh into something really good.

I've always liked the Rockets enough to be pleased when they are doing well, but Howard and Harden are not an automatic ticket to contention any more than Bryant and Howard were.

Right, the Lebron team that got swept by the Spurs, and the Magic got whipped 4-1 by the Lakers. Cleveland and Orlando went to the Finals because someone from the East had to, not because they had any chance of winning the title.

He single handily carried that team past the best player in the world and into the finals. That's impressive, period

Oh, I agree that Howard has been individually impressive (nearly superhuman) in the playoffs and have defended that position on multiple occasions. I'm just saying that he has never been part of a team that had a chance of winning a title, so euphoric Houstonians should probably wait and see before assuming the Rockets have made it into that elite group. There are plenty of paper tiger rosters in the NBA.

There is a noticeable gap between "good" and "contender". You never know how a team's dynamics are going to settle out. Maybe Howard and Harden don't work out as well on the court as they do on paper, or Howard takes away all of Parsons' possessions turning him from a nascent "big 3" guy into just another guy on offense, or Houston ends up having to gut their roster to afford Howard and Harden.
