There was a report a few weeks ago (maybe linked in this thread, not sure) that Chip was leaving at the end of his current contract. I assumed he had more time on it and he'd be here at least one more season.

Maybe this is a tiny signal (since he and the Spurs couldn't agree on long term) that its definitely Pop's last year? I know there's been a ton of speculation regarding who comes after Pop and we've always assumed it's going to be someone coming back (Snyder, Bud, Becky, Messina, etc) but maybe they aren't committed to a Pop disciple? Seems any of the formers coming back would be just fine with Chip.

I trust PATFO to either bring in or promote a suitable replacement. OKC must've offered him a ton of money and it wouldn't shock me if Chip wanted to see out his contract since he's been with the organization for so long.

Mitchell?

Mitchell is a better scorer (26ppg/57% TS vs 21ppg/53% TS) but Murray is bigger, a better defender, better passer, and significantly better defender. DeJounte's Box+/- was 25% higher than Mitchell's, despite being on a much worse team.

Despite more time handling the ball, Murray had a lower turnover rate than Mitchell.

Plus Murray has a significantly better contract for the team.
