I think I'd prefer to believe Nico traded Luka because he's racist rather than being that dumb.

The Brunson narrative has gotten out of control in the past month also.
He was borderline unplayable in the Clippers series in 21 and he was all but headed to his dad in NY by the middle of that offseason. It would have taken $20 million+ to get him to sign the extension and the Mavs would have been crazy to agree to that after how he played in the playoffs.
People have let their emotions completely get ahold of them.

Mavs now the only team in the NBA without a European or a white American 🤔 https://t.co/IjUR3EtV7Q

Gonna post this here and looking forward to more analysis in the media as it's scary how much this already parallels the late 80s Mavs sudden decline. What's the 2020s equivalent of losing Roy Tarpley to cocaine?

They did. Donnie Nelson (the actual GM at the time) didn't offer the $55m offer that JB would have accepted prior to the trade deadline because it would have made him trade INELIGIBLE. Donnie wanted to dangle him as a trade asset and thought worst case scenario Brunson would sign the deal in the summer.
Then the dad stuff happened and he blew up in the playoffs. But all of this was on record at the time that Brunson wanted to sign an extension with Dallas prior to the trade deadline.
And many many many people would have paid JB the max offer. I myself said we had to sign him to the max (which wasn't actually that much, it was like $30m/yr) because we couldn't afford to lose him for nothing. A $30m cap slot is easy to work with if you want to move on and there's no way JB is turning that offer down in January before the summer he went to NY.

This year's Mavs team is better on paper with everyone healthy. Why can't you admit that??

Dude. We just lost Kyrie for upwards of a year today. It's beyond valid.

We lost Kyrie, so we have to post tweets of Lakers players? Not sure how that follows.
Yeah, but AD gives us the best front court in the league! Defensive juggernaut! Win now! The team is better without Luka and with AD! Unfortunately, we're without Luka and without AD!zgolfz85 said:shack009 said:zgolfz85 said:shack009 said:

Lakers players? He was our guy, our dirk 2.0. He's not just a "lakers player." His trading away is likely the difference between the promised land and a decade of oblivion.
Genuinely wonder why it triggers you so much? Especially when Kyrie is done for, AD might not come back, a number of other guys are hurt, this season is ****ed…the foreseeable future is ****ed. Like you're really gonna be mad that I'm not breaking down the current state of the team when it's a dumpster fire? It's going to be 10-15 years until this can be rectified.shack009 said:

The dude still wows me on a nightly basis and I would assume most Mavs fans feel the same way. I enjoy seeing his highlights and at the same time, they make me sad.shack009 said:
The general *****ing about the Mavs is whatever, but posting specific plays and Luka stats on a nightly basis just makes this the Luka/Lakers thread.
How is that not obvious?

Hopefully, Caleb Martin can start putting together some nice tape.

Then enjoy them on twitter or on the thread called "Luka" on this forum. This is the Mavs season thread.

The state of this team leads always back to what that guy. OUR GUY, is now doing for someone else. And that it didn't need to happen.
Just imagine the last four weeks with Luka coming back from the injury. Grimes is still here. We DONT know if Gafford gets hurt. We DONT know if PJ gets hurt. Exum comes back. We DONT know if Kyrie gets hurt.
So yeah, every Luka game will be in all our minds. Maybe forever.

We aren't there yet.
I'm sure I'll get called out for being too positive, but it's just true. The window is extremely short, and we'll probably be in the wilderness soon and for a long time. But we aren't there yet.
This season got hosed by injuries, plagues, and stupid front offices, but the window actually is still open.
Genuinely curious where you see this open window?shack009 said:AggieKatie2 said:
