One team embraces physicality and one team doesn't want anything to do with it. That was an ass whooping in the second half. Hope that can inspire some of our guys to start playing with some pride on the defensive side of the ball. Get another crack at them on Friday.
Needed Vic to wake up and he just never did. Castle, Dev, and Keldon all had good showings. I'll be pretty irked if we send Castle back to the bench, it's pretty clear he's got the juice to start.
Vassell had a pretty good game offensively. That was a pathetic performance by him on the defensive side of the ball. He's not the only one. Champegnie and Keldon as well. These guys need to start taking some pride in the defensive side of the ball. There is a noticeable lack of effort on that side of the ball. Especially when you compare it to what Memphis just showed us.

It's mental effort. It doesn't matter how hard you try if you continue let a guy beat you with the same move over and over and over. I saw some poor technique and very poor awareness of who can do what.
Let's be honest. Most of these guys wouldn't even be rotation players for the Griz. The front office has a lot of work todo to surround Wemby and I'm not confident in Pop, RC, and Wright to deliver.

It's talent, scheme, and coaching.
Depending on our lineup, we have 2-3 guys on the court at all times who can't hit a three with any sort of reliability. You can't fix that problem with scheme. Teams are giving those guys open looks and they're bricking away.
For some stupid reason our front office still thinks this is the 2010s and you can out athlete teams. You can't.
Sure would be nice to have Chip here still to work on players with their shots but we let him go to OKC so we could give Pop a pay raise. That's working out great too.
In all fairness, I don't think the Spurs let Chip leave. He obviously has OKC connections and the future there was clear. He didn't want to be part of the long rebuild and uncertainty here and when Chip left the odds that the Spurs were going to land Wembanyama weren't very high. If he knew that was going to happen he may have decided to stay. Either way, it was a big loss for sure.
OKC gave Chip a seat on the bench, which the Spurs didn't.
I also don't think he is the miracle worker that a lot of Spurs fans thought. OKC is 19th in 3pt shooting this year and the Spurs have way fewer shooters and are just 23rd.
He never got Giddey a shot. SGA is still a 35% shooter and has been basically the same for 3 years. Isaiah Joe, Cason Wallace and JWilliams all deeply regressed this year. Derrick White really only developed a great shot after he left for Boston. Parker never became a good 3pt shooter.
I would be willing to bet there are at least 50 great shot doctors in the world and the Spurs can land one if they don't already have one. I have no idea how Jimmy Baron would be rated. He did lead the NCAA in 3pt% twice as a player.

He's already the second best player on the team. Just has to learn the ropes a bit but he's got more talent then anybody else outside of Wemby. They just need to let him play at this point. He's earned the right to play through whatever rookie mistakes he makes.Enzo The Baker said:

His shot looks so nice, I really don't get why it doesn't fall. Hopefully he stays at the training facility all summer and we figure that out.
Man, some people just suck. Why would any athlete do anything nice if the beneficiaries are just going to flip it for profit?

Yea. Castle is only our only good perimeter defender. Memphis getting whatever they want. Johnson, Vassell and even Julian tonight are just awful.
Spurs got taken to the woodshed and destroyed the last 3-4 minutes of the third. No defense and the grizzlies running everything at them.
Memphis is a better all around and physical team than spurs. Tre Jones is getting exposed. Wemby either is not demanding the ball, grizz are too physical for him, or his teammates are not giving him the ball.
The last few weeks I'm seeing more and more who spurs can part ways. Tre Jones is one of them. Next season, spurs need a PG to replace Paul and need a good back up PG.
Also, Mitch does not take timeouts when the teams are on a run against the spurs. Time and time he does that.
