Looks like the Coby White deal is off. He's headed to Charlotte. If the rumors were true about wanting to add Eason in the deal with DFS then I don't mind letting it go.

is Marvin Bagley a + to this trade or did the Mavs have to take him? Same for Middleton at this point. This is a AJ Johnson, 2 firsts for Anthony Davis and you take the stuff we need to offload.


Bagley is just a minimum contract. Hardy and DLo both make $6m next year

Mavs got rid of all their bad contracts except for Klay Thompson and Caleb Martin.

I'm sure they will dump those too as soon as they can

Granted I'm a pretty casual NBA fan past the good guys and my fantasy basketball deal, but most of these trades just seem like throwing a lot of slop from 1 team to another.

It's fairly common for non-competitive teams to shed salary, and others to collect draft assets by taking on those contracts. You rarely see blockbuster deals being made to actually strengthen playoff contenders at the deadline like you do in MLB. I mean the biggest trades this deadline are going to be Anthony Davis to the Nights Watch, Harden to Cleveland, and Giannis to some middle of the pack team that won't contend.

He was really good before his leg almost had to be amputated and he had to learn to walk again. Pre-injury Lonzo would have been perfect on this team. 43% from three, really great defense, about 14/5/5 player. Like if FVV was 6'5 and could shoot better.

As long as his dad doesn't show up, I'm fine with Lonzo.

I have a theory that when he when Lonzo was drafted, there was a clause in his contract that stated if his dad ever tried to talk to LeBron about anything, they would void his entire contract.

Yeah, the Lakers tried to trade Ball to the Spurs for Kawhi and the Spurs refused because of the dad. When he was in NOLA, Lonzo had kind of a falling out with his dad and left his dad's shoe company to get a different shoe deal. After that, his dad hasn't been very involved with either of the good basketball Balls. LiAngelo never made it to the NBA, but apparently has a rap career.

The more evidence we get, the worse it looks for Reed. I don't know if he could be a plus defender in 2A HS basketball. Just atrocious. And he can't shoot half as good as what was advertised. Really crazy to think we didn't get one great player with all those lotto picks.

At times he is absolutely the worst defender in the league, but that's not really the main issue. He simply isn't as good of a shooter as we thought. He is currently sitting at 38%, but many of them are good open looks. He needs to be shooting in the low 40% if he is going to establish himself as a useful player, especially if he is going to play passive defense. At this point, he is on par with a washed up Klay Thompson.

I was also pretty pissed at Tari last night. He gave up a bunch of lay ups on one-on-one drives. He is playing for an extension and based on his injury record and inconsistency, I'd look to trade him while his value is high. His 3pt percentage is going to come down as the season progresses (and he is probably due for another injury). If we can get a real difference maker, I'd be happy to let Reed go with him.

That is hilariously on point given neither can stay in front of their man and are two well below league average high volume shooters.

Reed is 94th out of the top 100 qualified players (on pace to make at least 300 FGs) in effective FG% at 53.1%, and plummeting.

Klay is 99th at 52.5%.

Maybe Stone & Co. knew there would be some decent buyout candidates coming available that were better options than what they would have to part with in trade. Cam Thomas was certainly a surprise.

I also get it from Stone's POV. The FVV injury royally screwed everything up. I also didn't see a lot of guys out there getting traded that are instantly taking their teams from middle of the pack to instant contender.

I don't think they even drafted badly. The player they really needed was just never there and everyone is hitting the low end of their projection.

We didn't draft bad. Green was the consensus #2 that never made the leap. Detroit beat us out in the lottery for Cunningham. Also got Sengun later in that draft. Next year we fall to #3 in the lottery and got what most thought would be the #1 pick in the draft in Jabari. Also got Eason later. The next year the Spurs get gifted Wemby and we get Amen. 3 years in a row where we have a great chance for the #1 pick and don't get any. The only real bad pick was passing on Castle for Reed.

KD looks washed? Averaging 26 a game on 50/40/90 does not feel wash to me. 4.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds, 1 block, 1 steal per game also not shabby. This team has the talent to make a run. Basketball is a game of runs, get hot at the right time and a championship is possible.

Would like them to add a vet PG buyout candidate
