Alabama just got the toughest #1 seed bracket I can remember. (Yes - even ours last year) USL is scrappy, but also Belmont! They should win, but to me the other top seeds (2-4 overall) have easier paths.
In old school Louisiana directional nomenclature, USL is the current University of Louisiana (in Lafayette) - i.e. the Ragin Cajuns. They used to be the University of Southwestern Louisiana. I think they missed out on the softball tournament this year.
The team in Bama's bracket is actually SE Louisiana (in Hammond). They are SLU.
The other 2 Louisiana directionals:
NE Louisiana (in Monroe) is now Louisiana - Monroe. They were NLU.
NW Louisiana (in Natchitoches) is still just Northwestern St. They were NSU.
So, you used to have LSU, USL, SLU, NLU, and NSU.
