It really is crazy that we basically have at least 3 top 500 in the world players in singles. I say 3 because Nicole is absolutely that level but doesn't play enough pro events to build points. There is also an arguement that Mia would also be there if she played more pro tournaments. The really great thing out of the rankings that I see is Lexington's ranking. It will be such an asset for her and this team that she has played well at that level, which is proving to be what the better players for us are doing. I know the ability and promotion of playing professional tournaments is a really big recruiting tool that Mark uses to get elite recruits on campus, who have dreams of being a pro in the future.

Also… depending on how deep a run Mary makes in Florida this week will determine whether or not we see her at kick off weekend coming up. She's automatically in the main draw and qualies hasn't even started yet. I know Mark feels very comfortable about our site and the only weakness potentially would be #1 doubles, but the way Daria played makes me think that could be competitive. Heck, this team is so deep and good that even without Mary we would probably finish top 4/5 in the SEC if not better.

Has anybody else seen the press release about the PVAMU match? Whoever Cory Richardson is, he needs to pull his head out of he a**!!! Saying Jeanette played on 5, instead of 4, and saying the NEXT match is 1/14/25 when we played PVAMU on 1/18. This boy gives a whole new meaning to Aggie jokes. And beyond that, shame on the 12th Man for not proofing this s**t writing any better.

UNC and UVA are playing right now beginning ACC play. It's this early because of the additions to the ACC, but what's first match!

UNC took the doubles point on 2&3. Virginia however has come out blazing in singles. they already have 3 first sets. ( line 1,2&4, with line 3 being a battle). UNC has brantmier back at 1 but she's not playing well at all and tangulig at 2 is risky because she is good but not at an elite level at 2.

Jordan has Auburn playing this long weekend like he's afriad they won't be .500 after conference (or his own version of bussing the team to Junction)
Sat - W against North Alabama (lost doubles point)
Sat - W against UAB
Sun - W against Tuskegee
Mon - W against Western Carolina
Mon - currently playing Western Carolina again

Florida played yesterday with only five players (missing the same three returning players that did not compete in the "tournament" the week before. That includes Gailis.)

Virginia takes 1,2&4. UNC takes 5. That's a very dangerous sign for the rest of the country if UVA can get that production out of 1&2. They return almost everyone from last year and fill that spot with a talented freshmen at 3&5. They're just as deep as anyone and have a ton of experience to compliment it.

Yes - Virginia will be about as good this year as they were last year. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Virginia beat UNC last year around the same time and then lost to them pretty handily during the ACC tournament (4-0). Two good teams playing, though!

UVA beat UNC at indoors this time last year i believe. I think UNC got the better of them in the rematch in conference play. UVA was the standard for top 8 seed last year. They beat everyone below that threshold but maybe had 1 other win over a top 8 seed. Their weakness last year was the top of their lineup was good just not elite, that might be different this year after what I've seen today and Chervinsky's fall.

A very valid question, but she will have kick-off, indoors, Pepperdine and San Diego beforehand to get her feet under her. UNC played James Madison, Campbell, and Gardner-Webb before this. That's a tough ask for a freshman. But let's win 7-0 and not even have that pressure

oh, got nervous there for a second lol. she will be ok. remember when jeanette lost a heartbreaker at line 6 at indoors a few years ago as a freshman. she played very well, though!

i just watched the deuce point for the UVA/UNC match and it just magnifies how much pressure there are in these matches. it's nothing like the pros where you just swing out for the most part. it's like they can't even play their strengths because it's more about waiting for a mistake than forcing an error or ending the point. line 5 and 6 are brutal in that sense.
