How does Phillip still has access to various late 70s model Grandma cars if he's out of the spy game?

I always just assumed he and Elizabeth had several vintage cars parked around town in garages, etc. for use when they needed them.

not that they checked them out of the Politburo lockbox like a rental and had to get permission each time.

they've always operated as fully functioning solo enterprise with as little direct contact as necessary. i would not imagine there is a lot of overhead to their basic needs for operating simple tasks.

Couple of questions after watching this week's episode (spoilers, obviously):

1) Why did Elizabeth go through all the trouble of telling the warehouse employee how confidential their conversation was (multiple times) and make him sign the NDA if she was planning to kill him all along? Did learning that his girlfriend also works there do something to alter her plans, thereby making him expendable?

2) Can anyone figure out if Stan's new wife is a spy or not? She's either a terrible spy or terrible actress because that was an extremely awkward sequence when she told him about wanting to join the FBI. Also, if she is a spy, wouldn't the country sponsoring her be sophisticated enough to know what the age cutoff was for new agents before they hatched this plan?

1. she was not planning to kill him all along. right at the end he told her his girlfriend worked in security at the company and so she must be aware of this security audit....she realized then he would talk to his girlfriend and the gig would be up. So she spontaneously decided to kill him. they obviously did not have intel that he had a relationship with a girl in security. she kept driving home the NDA and the secrecy but a close personal relationship was too much risk for blowing the cover.

2. No....she is perplexing. Could be anyone working for anyone or no one working for no one. The writers have done a great job with her keeping her completely mysterious. One plausible explanation if she IS a spy - acting like a complete dolt is a good cover story. Stan would never expect a spy to ask to become an FBI agent at her age..and if she knew that limit anyway it was safe to propose that. On the other hand a completely innocent average housewife could also ask that inane question. Could work either way.

Also the bit about them struggling with money is very curious. That seems like an odd seed to plant. I am wondering if he has been hiding money for an escape plan or if the lack of money will play another wedge with the center.

It could also be a reason to have to bring Henry home for the last couple of eps...in which he would add to all the stress by being pissed off and asking tons of questions.

She did not have to kill him in my opinion. To me it is showing how hard core and extreme she has gotten. Goes along with the speech about hating America and wanting to combat Gorbachev.

I am hoping that she is the one that goes down and the end. I think they are purposefully trying to sour the audience to her.

Phillip also looks really old and tired all of sudden. Not sure if it is intentional or the actor just aging.

I've always hated Elizabeth and felt a little sorry for Phillip and I think that's the reaction the writers were going for. The writers did an excellent job of creating an ideological robot that can't see the complexity or nuance of humanity.

I think if I were in counterintelligence and knew the depth of Elizabeth's and Phillip's crimes, I would give Phillip the benefit of a quick death, but make her feel pain, and make sure the Soviets knew it.

Her killing that guy and the general does show how over worked she is and she is getting sloppy. In the past she would have taken the time to know more about her targets.
She's getting desperate and sloppy.

I think that she is an illegal. At this point I'm the series, Rene has invested about 4 years working on Stan, with nothing to show for it. Maybe she thinks that being direct about getting in the FBI is her only shot at getting good intel.

She's with the Russians for sure, but I feel like she's not an illegal they just have her coerced somehow

She could be an illegal from a country other than Russia. That would be interesting.

Perhaps she is literally just there to protect the Jennings.

Stan would maybe confide in her if he had any suspicions. Especially now that he thinks she wants to be a Fed. Just tell her to watch them or soemthing.

This.

This season is about everything falling apart. Elizabeth is imploding. 2 impromptu kills? Both of whom deal with super secrete nuke stuff? She's desperate. The USSR is desperate.

Man I love this show.

I agree with that. The enemy is not just the USA now. It's also glasnost.

Seem to be setting up Phillip to sell out. So, that won't happen.

It's got to be someone like the phone operator who sells everyone out, and knows how to contact them so they can be surveilled.

Either that, or the show ends with Elizabeth stuck in the US, rudderless and without a cause to fight for and burning up and hating everything around her.

To collapse and aftermath, seems like they are going super slow. 8th episode is when it should go down based on previous seasons, correct?

I predict the show ends with an epilogue sequence that shows Paige in the CIA or State Dept. like they are grooming her for.

Paige has completely bought into everything. I wonder if she would stray if she learned her mom is a killer and uses sex to get intel

Curious why the Center isn't helping with cash flow any longer. Maybe Elizabeth just wants to see Phil fail.

I'm pretty sure Paige is on her way to doing this herself...you could see the light bulb go off when she saw the guy's security badge.

She seems to be going off on her own now since Elizabeth told her not to go out with the guy....maybe Paige gets caught sneaking in somewhere with the credentials and the whole thing comes crashing down?

Technically Elizabeth told her to not work him as a source but feel free to pursue a non-spy relationship. I believe that was her intention until she spotted the badge.

Elizabeth has gotten really murdery. How many guards did she kill at the defense contractor factory? She's either setting up for a big character turn or there isn't going to be any sympathy for her whatsoever if/when she's killed or busted.

4 or 5. Between them and the warehouse manager, the FBI/CIA/etc should all be on HIGH alert.

They probably should be able to tie in the USAF general as well after they start looking into it. Elizabeth's killed 6-7 innocent people on this one mission, with nothing to show for it.

Beeman and OtherGuy were talking about how his "suicide" didn't make any sense.

One thing is for sure though, somehow, someway, Olag is completely screwed.

Yeah, but with Oleg, at least he's risking his life and family for something worthwhile. Elizabeth is murdering people and risking her life and family for a failed economic and political system that oppresses its own people. At this point, the happiest ending for most of the audience would be for Elizabeth to get hit in the face with that reality in a really punitive, painful way...

while naked, of course.

I just don't buy the whole financial struggles plot line. You would think somebody with their skill set could find some way to generate income in a less than legal manner. I understand that's an unnecessary risk, but I fell like I would figure SOMETHING out.

Were you alive back then (not a baby but an adult)? It seems to fit to me in terms of timeframe, economy, etc, but i agree with you that it seems sort of unbelievable that phillip can break into secure govt facilities but can't figure out a scam or theft plan to keep the kid in school - so maybe that is something we will see in the next few episodes.

Paige is still terrible but at least she has something to do now.

The worst scenes in the 6 season run have to be the total beatdown that is the whole dying artist/ Elizabeth as her hospice nurse setting.
We got a little payoff with the world series party but jeez those many many many set up scenes where robot killer Elizabeth tries to understand art and learn to draw, and her artist cancer patient is artsy and aloof are the worst.
Flip side, pretty much any scene we get back in Moscow is amazing.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but it seemed to me that that's exactly what they're setting up Philip to do. I mean they literally get away with murder, it's not too hard to imagine him knocking off a drug dealer or pawn shop or something.
