So if you're looking to binge one of the greatest animated comedies of all time, be sure to check out Home Movies. It was an Adult Swim staple for many years and features excellent early work of H Jon Benjamin (Archer, Bob's Burgers). The pace is really unusual with lots of talking over each other with great rapidity. Highly underrated and very funny and absurd.

I don't want to look back for cord-cutting threads, just looking for a simple solution because our uverse is a waste. We signed up for Disney+ during the quarantine, and I've barely switched over to cable since.

We have:

Netflix
Disney+

I'll want the HBO Max

So what else do I need to get college football and Astros games? I like Discovery, BBC and Smithsonian, but can do without. I really don't watch 1/10 of the channels I currently get with uverse.

Youtube TV?
or
Hulu + Live TV?

Astros are only on like fubo+ because they have the stupidest tv rights deal in all of sports. You could also get a VPN that says you aren't in Texas and then subscribe to the mlb (out of market) package which may be cheaper than keeping userse or getting fubo.
MLB is the longest shot of all 4 majors coming back, though, so you may not have to worry about Astros this year.

I'm probably switching from DIRECTV to YouTube TV here pretty soon. I could be wrong, but I've heard that it's better than Hulu TV.

That seems to be the current consensus. I am also about to cancel DIRECTV.

To continue the slight thread redirection - how do y'all keep internet costs down when you get rid of cable? My internet cost would have doubled in cost if I got rid of cable, eliminating them savings of switching to YouTube TV.

As for HBO Max - seems pretty cool if you're a big movie watcher. Not sure if it has a ton of value if you're looking for a cable replacement.

I pay $110/month for Spectrum internet, by itself, not part of any kind of cable bundle or anything like that. For the price I get 250-300 Mbps download speed and 15-20 Mbps upload speed. But it looks like they currently offer half those speeds for roughly half that price. I had heard AT&T's internet was worse in my area, so I didn't bundle that with DirecTV and opted instead for the stand-alone, and opted for the higher speeds to accommodate 4K streaming. Spectrum is a sh*t company, and I'm sure I'm being overcharged, but it was my only decent option last time I checked. When I switch to YouTube TV I'll probably check again to see if there are any new internet providers in my area.

Ooh yeah, that seems real high. I pay $20/month for AT&T 300mbps, and it seems to work just fine. Of course that price would probably go up if I dropped DirecTV. But even combined they're only $70/month, so there's not much point in cancelling it currently.

But price and/or quality could vary greatly in Southern California vs Dallas.

The less competition an address has, the worse the pricing gets.

I pay 50 after taxes and fees for something like 50/15. Plenty for what I need but definitely not cost effective per MB compared to lots of places these days. I just have a lack of options.

I just checked and the only other options in my area are Frontier and HughesNet. Frontier doesn't go over 100 Mbps (and it's $50/month for that max speed), and HughNet's max speed (25 Mbps via satellite) is $130 for a way lower speed than what I'm currently getting. Kind of shocking that these are my only options for basically being in the heart of Los Angeles. That said, I just checked 4K streaming speed requirements as well, and it seems they've gone gone down since the last time I looked, years ago. So I might be able to get away with Spectrum's 100 Mbps tier, which is only $50/month, same as Frontier.

You should be able to do like 3 4k streams at those speeds ...you'll be fine.

Kind of lame that Batman the Animated Series isn't on here in the DC section. Surprised to see that DC Universe streaming service is still a thing... why not just roll it up into this?

So on my Apple TV, my HBO Now app changed to HBO Max today. When I launch it, the first thing it does is say "Welcome to HBO Max" and give me the choice between two buttons: "Access All of HBO Max" or "Access HBO Only" with no explanation of why I might pick one or the other.

They aren't trying very hard.

Edited to add the app uses the smallest font I've seen yet on an Apple TV app...

Time Bandits is there, so I'm sold.

Seriously, the TCM collection is big though.

I thought the same thing. Was really hoping to watch it.

Warner / AT&T needs to figure out what they really want to do with their DC catalog. Right now its spread between HBO Max and DC Universe Streaming Service and it's not doing a good job on either one.

Definitely confusing. I just logged into my AT&T account and got the MAX banner via AT&T Internet 1000 which I have. So, I set that up through my AT&T internet account.

I still have my DTV account which I'm cancelling soon (which I've been saying for months now). My DTV account still has the $17.99 HBO charge on there so I guess I'm paying for HBO less than MAX while getting MAX for free until I cancel DTV.

Because the amount of people that care about 4k is so small that it doesn't matter if it is available at launch. Having more content and good UI is more important than having 4k.

Let's not forget that AT&T is also an ISP and wireless provider, they don't want this service to force them to upgrade their networks.

This launch has been awful. I have Suddenlink with HBO so I got an email yesterday at 5:30pm that I can get HBO max for no additional charge. Downloaded the app(Android so can chromecast it) and logged in through the Suddenlink link and they were supposed to send an email to confirm.

Nothing. Tried about 5 x then gave up.

Sure enough about 4 hours later I get 5 emails for a 30 minute passcode. Great.

So I tried again today and it gets stuck right after the Suddenlink log in with an "unhandled exeption" error on auth.hbogo.com

Awful launch but I'll be glad to get it for free and the suddenlink on-demand menu is awful.

I'm with ATT also. It looks like I will pay more for non-bundled internet, but not have to pay the HBO Max sub, so could even out. I've been with them forever, so I'm going to ask for the intro price for new subs or threaten to bail. It always works when you tell them you will look elsewhere.

Sounds like a Suddenlink issue. I had no problem logging in with AT&T account on my phone or my Xbox.

Yeah, same. That sucks, but I'm with DIRECTV and had zero issues as well. It was actually incredibly easy.

Thanks I got the account setup by logging into my computer, linking my HBO now account through email, and can log directly into the app now.

I'm still going to pay less once I dump DTV:

YouTube TV - $54
Netflix - $14
Hulu - $13
Amazon Prime - $10
Xbox Live Gold - $8
Disney+ - $6

So, DTV would have to get to $54/mo for me to keep them because that other stuff isn't going anywhere. Even adding all of the above together ($105/mo) it's still cheaper than what I pay for DTV alone.

AT&T Internet 1000 - $75

You and I are in the exact same boat, save for the Xbox charge. But yeah, the same provider, services, and costs, essentially. And will be dropping DTV soon for YouTube TV as well.

Is that for cable or just internet service? Google fiber isn't listed among cable providers when logging into max.
