Doesn't compute. Suicide Squad 1 was the first superhero movie I've ever almost walked out of. And I sat through Green Lantern.
Ayers kind of made it hard to say you liked the first SS after he came out and said it wasn't his vision or movie. Basically you're admitting to liking what some corporate execs thought you'd like at the expense of the director's art.

Movie was funny. Still didn't really care about any of the characters. I want a gif of John Cena white guy dancing.

I thought it was pretty good. I laughed several times throughout the movie and was surprised within the first 5 minutes.
Thought it was pretty fun! The good thing about not caring about any of the characters going in is that you don't mind if anyone gets short-changed in screen time, if anyone dies, etc. I didn't really like the army of rats at the end, felt kind of generic or obligatory. Didn't successfully tug at my heart strings, though it kind of tried?
Bloodshot was pretty legit, even though he's got a pretty generic powerset. They managed to make him look and feel distinct, which isn't easy to do.
John Cena is surprisingly good in the roles I've seen him in so far, look forward to seeing him in more stuff.
Fight choreography was strong, but in the scene where Harley breaks free, there's a LOT of "I have an assault rifle but I'm going to step closer instead of further back so that you can melee me" going on.
Perhaps most importantly, it's definitely Gunn but distinct from Guardians 1 and 2. I was worried that I'd get tired of his schtick, and while there are a few telegraphed jokes or things like that, it felt like he switched it up. I'm more interested in GotG3 than I was.

It was entertaining, but I wasn't blown away or anything. It felt a little too much like GotG at times without pulling it off. I'd watch it again and would like to see a sequel.
Gunn knows how to make a fun movie, no doubt. Such a breath of fresh air compared to the first two movies. Not the best movie ever, but entertaining for sure.

Wow I completely forgot about the Marine. I guess he needs comedic roles!
Scorpion King didn't end up being the peak of Dwayne Johnson's acting career, so maybe it's unfair to mention The Marine. But still, I was in the dumb action movie phase of my life and it was still an absolute beating of a movie.

Super fun movie. Not sure where it's at in my top DC movies, but super unexpected and not formulaic. I really enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I was crying from laughing so hard at the beginning.

I absolutely love this movie. I love kinetic storytelling. Thats what this movie was. Probably one of my favorite movies of the past few years.
Which dceu movie is better than this?
For me, Man of Steel, JL Snyder Cut, and maybe BvS Extended Cut.
Beyond that, still not sure. It's a tough call between this and Shazam for fourth, I think.

This movie was a lot of fun, Gunn just running free. Felt like a combination of GotG, Deadpool 2, Godzilla, Magruber, and Slither. I don't like John Cena in anything, but he was really good in this, Peacemaker is basically Drax in a lot of ways, surrounded by silliness and has no sense of humor or irony. Elba was great, as he always is. I love Margot Robbie, period. Rat catcher 2, Polka Dot Man, King Shark are all fun. Glad they didn't get into back stories very much, just got down to business.
My only real critique is that it's about 20 minutes too long, they could have shaved down the time a bit. Otherwise, it's just a fun movie.
I wanted to see it in the theater but my schedule isn't going to permit it. Would have been even better on the big screen.

Maybe my expectations were too high but I was disappointed.
For all of you that liked this movie, you should watch Doom Patrol which is also DC. This movie was basically a 2 hr Doom Patrol episode. The poster even had them all in a bus which is how the Doom Patrol travels. Frankly, I think Gunn lifted this entire look and feel from DP. I love DP so I'm not disappointed in this movie but it's not even unique within DC. Lol.
Anywho, it was a fun movie and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Other comments:
- saw Nathan Fillion in credits but have no idea who he was in this.
- John Cenas arms are illogical.
- I love Margot Robbie.
- couldn't help but think of LOTR ending as applied here

Fillion was the stupid TDK guy at the beginning. Gunn likes putting him in his movies for a cameo.

It was okay. I give it a 6.5/10. I at least was entertained throughout, and definitely laughed a lot at the dark humor. Favorite scene was that brief piece with Cena and his axe... that made me laugh pretty loud.
So much better than the first Suicide Squad, though that's not saying much. I dislike pretty much the entire DCEU, outside of Man of Steel, so I would put it second on my DCEU list.

Doom Patrol can't be recommended enough, but because it's DC the state of the movies will cause it not to get seen by a lot of people that would probably like it.
