If you didn't think so, I'd be disappointed. Thanks for the validation.

I'm gonna keep rolling my eyes at the ridiculousness. Apparently, I have not been able to enjoy ANYTHING for the last 30 years of my life because there just aren't enough characters/actors who have one white parent, one hispanic parent, grew up in Texas, and went to a state university.
How will I ever live in this world. Where is my hero? When will I see him win his award. OH THE HORROR....
EDIT: Hold on, I thought of some other definitions I need in my hero: Christian and libertarian.
I'll let you know when I think of some others, so you can have your buddies in Hollywood make sure I get my hero, next year.
You don't have a problem relating to people you see on screen and that's great, nor is it surprising as you're half white and most people on tv probably look a lot like you.
But for other people, and especially kids, who don't often see people who look like them on tv or the big screen it is a big deal. There's tons of videos about films like Black Panther, Coco, Encanto, Turning Red, Shang-Chi, and lots of others where seeing someone like them was really meaningful.
You don't care, great, don't care. But just because it doesn't mean anything to you doesn't mean it may not mean a lot to someone else.
If parents need movies with the actors with the right skin tone to teach kids life lessons, they're crappy parents.
Kids take inspiration from lots of places including but not limited to tv and film.
And even if they've got parents who are really trying, there's some kids and parents that just don't connect or relate in a lot of different ways. I don't really get the point you're trying to make.

Is anyone else just seeing this as Will Smith being insecure because people are talking about him and JPS and her screwing around on him.
Like he seems SUPER sensitive to it.

Nope... you just can't be reasoned with. In a single post, you basically claimed I can't understand what it's like to be someone else, while devaluing any particular characteristic, creed, ethnicity, religion, or any other defining quality I may have.

Also, as a Christian, I'm insulted by your un-inclusively hateful acronym. See how that works?

I feel like you're lumping a whole lot of takes about things I'm not really talking about into one point, but sure.BQRyno said:My point is that none of this crap has a darn thing to do with giving kids something to aspire to. It's all, how can I put it lightly, self gratification on Hollywood's part. It's virtue signaling. It's a competition for who is the most inclusive. They don't give a damn about people's kids. I think one thing that is being overlooked her is that at no point in his monologue was Chris Rock mistaken as a good comedian. He jokes were lame and sucked bad.

Dwayne is gonna have to host next year for safety reasons.fig96 said:
People keep saying "Rock" and not "Chris Rock" and every time they do I'm thinking how differently this would've played out if it was Dwayne Johnson up there.
Serious question, have you ever been to a live comedy show?oragator said:
I loved arrested development, but that wasn't mocking an actual woman's looks on live TV, to her face with several hundred million people watching, over something she had no control over. I'm sorry if you can't see the difference.
Be interesting though to see the press releases from both. Have to assume they will both be coming. Both will want to shape the narrative and both will want to milk the attention presumably.
Anyway, time for bed.

These are two of the probably 10 (if I'm generous) most powerful black people in Hollywood. These negroes got $, leverage, connections and networks.
Will Smith owes Chris Rock a huge apology. There is no excuse for what he did. He’s lucky Chris is not filing assault charges. The excuses he made tonight were bullshit.
