I don't see how either could not know about the 3rd, unless the 3rd is actually the original, who created Marc, and Marc created Stephen.

Stephen didn't know about Marc bc he was created by Marc, so maybe Jake created Marc.

I can't remember, is Marc ever referred to by name by his parents in the flashbacks?

I think he was. At the very least, he definitely wasn't speaking Spanish back then.

I think episode 3 should have shown the actual origin where he stands up to Bushman and Layla's father dies, etc. And then skip or greatly reduce all the field of reeds stuff. Ep 5 was good but "Steven's dead, now he's not, now we're back to life" was something I don't think I could even explain to someone - you just have to roll with it.

I just can't believe the bulk of his origin and his entire relationship with Layla went the "tell, don't show" route.

Edit: I suppose Jake could have been responsible for Layla's dad's death but still. She's not even in episode 5 but gets super powers in episode 6, but their entire marriage and how they met is inferred or mentioned almost in passing. I can't bring myself to care about that.

It's possible that no one except the avatars could see the big CGI god battle. Earlier in the season, no one could see khonshu or the undead jackals.

I had the same beef with the god fight. Absolutely no clue if that was really happening, if anyone else could see it, etc.

I think my biggest issue is that, weird plot devices aside, the story had absolutely nailed, due in large part to Isaac's performance, this heartbreaking internal struggle of these two personalities. Neither one whole, needing each other, etc. Thought that was absolutely awesome.

So it stands to reason that the final act would be them figuring out that there's actually a third personality. But for them to just kind of blink through it and then stick that in the post credits scene... meh.

Like that WAS the intriguing part of the show. All the artifact hunting and whatever was more or less a sideshow, and then the whole last episode focused on the sideshow.

Finale could have been better served by revealing what happened in the final fight, not blanking it out. You still never saw MK's full powers.

The giant god thing was too much CGI fest, and makes zero sense that other Avengers weren't called in for that.

Layla was awesome, Oscar Isaac's acting was incredible, the storyline choices were odd.

Agree that they should have shown the final fight with the cabbie and just doing a black out.

And while the Kaiju fight was entertaining, it does seem strange that no one else showed up.

In good news, the lack of faux outrage from a certain demographic about the changes from the commic to increase inclusion and make the MCU more multicultural and introduce a mixed religion marriage was a refreshing surprise

my boyfriend summed it up exactly how I felt:

"I'm not even sure if I liked this series at all, but I want a second season."

On the Avengers thing, for one, we're not even sure if other people could see that right?

But also, how many are left on earth that can just teleport around the world? Basically only Strange right and seems like he's got plenty going on right now. The whole chain of events happened in like 30 minutes, maybe they were on the way.

Is there a comic book explanation for why Jake Lockley spoke in spanish? Having not read the comic books, I found that odd.

Jake Lockley in the comics was Marc's crime world personality. He was a cab driver that was more prone to violence and had a wealth of criminal connections that reached deep into the crime world. I think the Hispanic spin on the character in the mid credit scene was just the directors imagination on how to differentiate the personalities from each other.

The hospital Harrow was in at the end was called Sienkiewicz Psychiatric Hospital. Bill Sienkiewicz is a famous Moon Knight artist. Loved that Easter egg.

I think it's partially leaning into how culturally ambiguous Oscar Isaac is.

Feige - "We need a Hispanic, Jewish, Brit"

Casting Agent - "I'll call Oscar Isaac"

Just finished a binge of the series. Glad I didn't watch it week-to-week, and think I'll continue this trend for future Marvel TV series. Thought it was ok overall. Pleased it was only 6 episodes.

I hated the way this show ended. Wow. Deus Ex Machina to end the conflict. And then Marc, Steven, and Layla ask what happened and then just shrug it off.
Except that isn't the first time that something like that happened where a fight was quickly and mysteriously ended and neither Marc nor Stephen know what happened.

And I didn't sense that they just shrugged it off, just knew that they had something more important to deal with.

It's almost like a mid season cliffhanger. Unfortunately it will probably be two years before we see Moon Knight again.

Assuming we do see him again. Although, Disney has the money to finish a story if they want. What were the "ratings" for this show, I wonder.

Just got around to the series this weekend. Like a couple other people have mentioned, it worked well as a binge. The week to week watch/theorize/argue thing just sets the bar too high for these short marvel series.

Anyway, I enjoyed it and could take or leave another season. I appreciate how interconnected the MCU is, but I also like original, independent stories. No need to have R2-D2 just randomly walk through a scene in every property…

I re-watched the show over the weekend and I really enjoyed it overall. It worked much better as a binge. I really hope we see Moon Knight again in the MCU. There's a lot of really cool material they can work with.

Way better as a binge.

I think the 40-minute episode, 1-week break concept does not work for me at all. It's not an HBO drama where it's a full 60 minutes. 40 is so unsatisfying. Pacing issues galore in the TV format.

I think I'd rather have 4 60-minute episodes than 6 40s, at least for most of this stuff so far.

Just watched for the first time. Loved it. I'm a huge fan of Ancient Egyptian history/mythology though so that was a huge part of the appeal for me. I think Oscar Isaac did great as well.

Have only read the last page of this thread so far and was a bit surprised by the comments. While I was hoping for more from the ending, I wasn't surprised they didn't dump everything on us. I just see this as an intro to a character that Marvel plans to tell us more about. Gotta save something for future episodes/movies.
