Another solid episode. Nothing too crazy until the end.

Great backgrounds tons of color… but not sure the whole return thing would be a saga in itself

You knew the captain was going to die at some point. I'm betting Spencer got picked up by the ship he was talking to on the radio.

Yep. He's not dead. The cliffhanger is where he is.

But holy ***** It's taking foreeeeeeever.

All I could see when the captain was talking was him as the Russian gangster in Bad Boys 2.

What are the chances of coming across 2 ghost ships within hours of each other like that?

They saw that first ship pretty soon after leaving. They had been going for a full day before the captain died. There is no way they drifted all the way back in a couple hours.

Even in 1920, sailing up the east african coast could expect some traffic towards the suez i would expect.

Was it clear that it was a ghost ship and not one under power? If it was the same ship then it is a little odd.

Great news! There's so much story to tell there, so I'm glad it's not just a one-off like 1883 was.

If it was occupied, I would think they would have been blowing their horn to get the attention of the tug boat.

That of course was going to happen.

She should have taken her friend with her.

Didn't she ask her to go? I was thinking about that last night.

I just started watching the Murder in Little Big Horn docuseries on showtime. The first part of the first episode describes the schools.

true, also - when the old guy died, did he keep the boat on course? if he didnt it could have just circled back into the abandoned ship. currents can certainly be weird too.

I hope that priest gets karma'd to hell and back, and I hope it's the Indians who make sure he gets got.

As others have mentioned, the Indian School scenes are tough to watch. Just brutal.

yeah, when a supposed man of god steps up to act like a man of violence to a bunch of women, he needs to get what's coming.

off topic though, just think about that whole life. even the priest and nuns had a miserable existence, especially by modern standards.

all alone, on the prairie, supposedly no sex... no real community.

supposedly 'civilizing' indian girls, but nothing really but a bible, those few wretched miserable people around you in your life.

it's not a shock that few of them live up to their biblical standards... though if they had tried to be good people, it would not have been nearly so bad for any of them.

I knew there was a reason the captain told the story about piloting the WW1 hospital ship and having the ghost ship "follow" him for three days. Turns out that's what happened here.

I don't think the sinking ship drama is necessary after the lion incident, but it did give us a chance to watch Peter Stormare steal every scene he's in as usual. That dude is a master character actor.

It was interesting watching the scene where Teonna asks the guy she meets if she should run away to Canada and he says that "Canada is worse". In recent years Canada has had a reckoning with their past when it comes to Indian Schools; they've been unearthing mass graves and have been trying to identify remains of children who died in the care of the schools. The numbers are in the tens of thousands across the country. Pretty heartbreaking stuff.

Decent table setter episode this week. A little on the slow side of the spectrum.

Hasn't that mass grave story been unverified (if not debunked) at this point?

No. I have read that some tribes have made some "specious" claims, but records show that thousands of children died during Canada's Indian School era. Surely disease was the overwhelming factor but this show isn't pulling the storyline out of thin air.
Scotty Appleton
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No? You said mass graves have been unearthed and that is flat wrong. Some 25 year old conflict anthropologist used ground penetrating radar to claim anomalies that 'could be' graves at a site in BC which caused the stir, but then backtracked on those comments after the damage was done. To this day no excavations have been done to prove any of the claims.

Who?

Pod was Brienne's squire after he left Tyrion's service.

Gendry was Robert's ******* who rowed away from Dragonstone after Ser Davos freed him.

HOLY HELL.

Spencer's trip back to Montana is unnecessarily dramatic. Get him on a boat; put him on a train; the end.

He's gonna be as old as Harrison Ford by the time he gets there.

So far, everything after 1883 has been a bit of a dud for me but one think I like about 1923 is the slow speed. It parallels the time period. Anything writers can do to deny instant gratification is welcome to me.
