I think you misunderstand the motives behind productions like this, and you were naive to expose kids to this garbage. Like this critic pointed out -- freedom of expression, make whatever you want, but it's a shame that this woke tripe was marketed to fool unaware parents with younger kids.
The next couple weeks will be a case study of film legs with 3 films expected to have great legs (Oppenheimer, MI7 & SOF) and 1 film expected to have horrible legs (Barbie)
It's a Barbie movie so I would expect there to be a fair amount of girl power! to it. Where does that bleed into something else? I guess everyone has their line. There's no doubt that Hollywood can produce some preachy, woke nonsense. At the same time, it seems like conservatives (of which I consider myself, for the most part) are so on the lookout for it, I'm starting to suspect they actually want these things to be woke just so they can complain.

OMG. My kids hear so much anti-woke that watching this movie did no harm, did not gain a foothold.

FTR, it wasn't that good. This girls were laughing at how "cringe" some of it was.

Girlfriend was very excited about this one so I tagged along. I was quite entertained by it but I agree the last 30 minutes got really dragg-y. Not one I'm in a hurry to see again but it was original and very funny at parts. Gosling and McKinnon are fantastic
Saw the highlights. Glad I didn't waste 2 hours for that overhyped crap. Hope it was entertaining for some folks I suppose.

I was most annoyed by Dylan Mulvaney's presence in the movie. I believe that he's an idiot who's out there portraying a caricatures of what it is to be a woman and the establishment has swallowed him hook line and sinker.
Kate McKinnon is someone I always thought was like 50 but just looked relatively healthy and young. I was shocked to find out she's 39. I don't know what it is but she looks much older to me.

Haven't seen this yet. I assumed the humor was going to be like the Legos movie humor - nostalgic, fun shots at various groups, but not overly injected with current event politics. Can't tell if its that or not.

You must be watch a lot of Dylan Mulvaney videos to immediately think you recognize the voice.
I THOUGHT I recognized the face.
I think I liked it better than my wife - she didn't care for it too much. I pushed the patriarchy bashing to the back of my head for a bit to just enjoy the other parts. I liked the new Dua Lipa song as well as the guitar riffing by Slash and Wolfgang.
Disappointed in the message they tried to deliver to young girls/women. I thought they could have done better without the man bashing and still have been pro-women (as a Barbie movie should be). A bit silly they went through all that and then setup a sequel to have Mommy Barbie. I mean, geez - poor Ken couldn't even get a single kiss in lol
