Kidding aside. Fantastic list. Thanks for doing this!

Choose whatever movie has the closest relation to Big Trouble in Little China, be it by release year, by actor or actress, screenwriter, etc.

While this is true, Always should never be compared to Jurassic Park and Schindler's List in 93 or Brooks with Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein in 74.Cinco Ranch Aggie said:Wrong.Brian Earl Spilner said:

How come you didn't include 1939, the best year of movies ever?
The easiest thing to do would be to just average out the imdb scores. You could create a "sudden death" poll that was only open for a few hours where people could vote again. The Porkchop Express said:
Anyone want to throw out a feasible idea for a tie-breaker for an individual matchup before tomorrow morning comes and I'm stuck?

Where did I compare Always to his 1993 works? I was just correcting a factually incorrect statement.Bruce Almighty said:While this is true, Always should never be compared to Jurassic Park and Schindler's List in 93 or Brooks with Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein in 74.Cinco Ranch Aggie said:Wrong.Brian Earl Spilner said:

From MSFC: "There should be a special accomplishment for Brooks putting out both Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein in the same year."Cinco Ranch Aggie said:Where did I compare Always to his 1993 works? From BES: "Spielberg, 93"
From you: "As well as 89"
You were comparing Spielberg in 89 to Spielberg in 93 and Brooks in 74.

I ranked all years (except 2020) from 1959-2023 and made 4 regions. The other two regions will go live at 9 AM CDT tomorrow. 1984 is an 11th seed in one of tomorrow's regions. Its average score was 7.76.marcel ledbetter said:
There are some really solid movie years posted here. Where does the year 1984 fit in?
Edit for spelling

By the way, both Spielberg and Brooks are fighting it out for second behind Victor Fleming, who did both Gone with the Wind and Wizard of Oz.
Tell you what, when we get to the Final 4, we'll put 1939 against all four of them so you can watch it get systematically destroyed four times in one day, deal?Atreides Ornithopter said:Brian Earl Spilner said:

Ah yes, but this from the infamous 1939 year that someone decided to leave off.
Note how you left out the statement where I was told that Spielberg only directed 1 movie in 1989, to which I responded Wrong. I didn't even consider the Mel Brooks statement when I simply pointed out that Spielberg had another year where he did 2 movies. And had completely forgotten Minority Report + Catch Me If You Can. Great movies, but even combined do not reach the greatness that is Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.Bruce Almighty said:Bruce Almighty said:From MSFC: "There should be a special accomplishment for Brooks putting out both Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein in the same year."Cinco Ranch Aggie said:Where did I compare Always to his 1993 works? Also, his 2002 with Catch Me If You Can and Minority Report is better than 89.
Apparently pointing out a fact is making a comparison? I only commented because the statement that Spielberg only had 1 movie in 1989 was incorrect.Brian Earl Spilner said:Cinco Ranch Aggie said:Wrong.Brian Earl Spilner said:

I stand corrected (never even heard of that movie), but are you actually suggesting that year is even comparable to the other two mentioned?
Unless your post was just years with two movies from one director, which is rare, but not that rare.
5 votes in, and there's only one year with 100%.rhutton125 said:
