We could chop in a large range if tape bombs continue week to week. We could retest the lows and dip further. We could dip, trap, and squeeze to ATHs. No one knows.

Markets have watched Trump walk back a lot of the rhetoric. Ironically, I think tarriff resolution could delay the recession that was due after the COVID overreaction. Meaning the AI bubble could drive markets back up for a few more years before an even harder correction.

We had a recession in 2022 but the legacy media and Biden's handlers decided to change the definition but don't worry, if we have anything close to it the MSM will SCREAM recession as they completely forget how they changed the definition 3 years ago.

This. People seem to conveniently forget that we had back to back negative GDP growth in 2022, and the stock market was also down 25% in 2022. The stock market hit an all time high in Dec-2021, and didnt hit another all time high until Dec-2023. Inflation and layoffs were also sky rocketing around this time.

By all accounts, all of the above points to a recession.

There is almost zero mention on the MSM of the bear market in 2022. Only two years after the Covid bear market of 2020. An amazing accomplishment by Joey and the Ds.

They were very quiet about it while it was happening too. Then they redefined what a recession is.

OF COURSE the elevator in my office building shows "news" from Washington Post

and their headline today was:

"recession likely after Trump economy ends nearly three years of strong economic growth"

you literally could have Soviet Pravda writers doing the headlines and it would be the same as the Washington Post leftists!

there was literally a recession in 2022.

Depends who you are listening to. It is almost universally understood that 2022 was awful and a lot of people learned a lot of lessons from it.

Yeah, I'm not sure what this is about 2022 not being in the news?

But, we also didn't have a potus so explicitly causing it. Like, on social media literally telling eveyone "we're crashing it on purpose".

There's a slight difference, let's not be disingenuous. That might be why all the uproar, not to mention doge, elon, tax cuts for only the rich, not touching the debt so you can give out more cuts, etc. Adds up to a lot of noise. And honestly, I think that's what trump team wants.

Yeah there's a difference. The previous POTUS was cognitively deficient. A team of uber lib leftists were calling the shots and signing things for him.

Distrust of the media is 80%+ and voters threw Biden's ass out of the white house because they didn't approve of the way he was handling the economy. 2022 is irrelevant to Trump's fumbling performance to date.

That and 2022 was a weird recession. It was a technical recession for 2 quarters. But it felt far worse due to crazy inflation and raising interest rates from 0% to 5% overnight. But the job market remained strong (other than tech) and unemployment did not increase. Typically, you don't see that combo.

Purchasing power eroded, but the economy did not crater all that much.

People will be studying 2020-2022 for a long time.

Plus, it just doesn't matter. "The other guy was an imbecile too" is not a good defense. We elected Trump because he's NOT Biden, not so that we'd get 4 more years of middling economic growth.
