My suspicion is they are looking for flushed evidence, not a body.

With he focus on Annie and Tomasso's house I think it is clear who the main suspects are. Something keeps sending cops back there. I still think items of value were taken from the home after Nancy's house was as turned back over to the family because they knew the old lady wasn't coming back and that could be what cops were photographing.

Has it been reported anywhere that cops tracked the SIL after they dropped Nancy off that night? Did he leave the house again? I suppose he could have left his phone at home if he did so he couldn't be tracked. Does a modern car record trips digitally if the navigation system isn't used? I think they hauled off a car from the sister and SILs house and could be cops trying to prove he wasn't home during the abduction

I don't think that's a septic tank.

The phrasing "we understand" from last night's video is odd.

I cat put my finger on exactly why… why include that?

You "understand" what? That the amount is $6 million? Where it's going?

Remember, they are responding to communications with the kidnapper(s), not providing an update on what is going on with this situation. We see only one side of the communication. It could be the kidnapper told her to indicate she understood the demands being made or how to do something they demanded.

Video footage from outside Annie Guthrie's home in Tucson shows law enforcement inside, with visible camera flashes (likely taking photos).

That higher level thinking should mean this guy needs to be heading up the FBI.

This is unnecessary and creepy. Paparazzi were awful in the first place when they were following Britney and Kanye, and now we have it at crime scenes?

Pretty disgusting, but obviously, they wouldn't be doing it if there was not a market for it.

Law enforcement was taking pictures, not the paparazzi.

Officer Lew is not LEO. He's a social media "influencer".

He's filming LEO doing their jobs. To me, that's messed up.

I wonder if they overflew FLIR in the areas of desert close by, within a few days, that a body could have been dumped & buried.

I think it's odd to have included that phrase without including what it is that is "understood". To include it without noting what is understood makes it seem like a code of sorts.

Or maybe I just watch too much true crime.

But it seems that these messages would be heavily crafted and vetted by the FBI before going out. That phrase means something. **I think**

Fact that they keep going to the sister's house is most telling to me. I feel like they found something over there and that's what "really" happened, and there's some bad actor across the border or overseas that's just taking advantage of grief.

The cartel used them as leverage somehow. They probably threatened to kill them if they didn't help and the threatened to kill them if they said anything to cops. That's how I connect cartel and family. YMMV.

Interesting detail that the ransom note supposedly instructed payment of Bitcoin in the amount of $6 million USD and I agree that isn't typical verbiage for a US born person.

If they were looking for flushed evidence they likely would have brought empty vacuum tank truck, sucked it all out then dumped on a screening medium for cleaning and review.

My immediate thought was, and still is, this is confirmation that she has passed.
"We understand" is a response to the kidnappers last communication where they most likely admitted she had passed due to a health condition out of their control or something like that.
..."We understand" and we now beg you to send her home so we can celebrate her life and honor them with a dignified/honorable funeral, etc, This is very valuable to us and the only way we will have peace.

I don't think that's a septic tank.

That seems to be an overkill cover for a septic tank. Usually plastic and fairly cheap. Plus that's pretty damn big.

Now they'er checking out behind the neighbor's house

Nancy Guthrie's house is on the left, and on the right is Nancy's neighbor where multiple sheriff's deputies are searching the property of. Strange this late in the investigative process

Maybe they got data from the car that showed it stop by that neighbors house the morning of the abduction so they think evidence may have been disposed of there

For the record according to the Daily Mail

Nancy Guthrie hasn't attended church in person since COVID. She only attended via livestream. When she didn't check in for service that morning, allegedly a "parishioner" noticed and alerted a family member. This was a BS story the SIL and Daughter made up.

However, church leaders later said they could not "quantify or confirm" that anyone from the church made the call to report Nancy as missing. So what is the truth

SIL. has been not seen since day 1 and 2. That does necessarily mean anything but it's curious to me.

It looks like to me they are running down tips that have been sent in to make sure they've checked everything out. These seem to be one off searches that don't seem to be related in any way to each other.

The play-by-play is kinda wearing me out. Of course I could avoid the thread or news, but it does draw you in somewhat.

I hope none of the actions of the "journalists" with drones and iPhones crawling all over the scene, do anything to jeopardize the investigation or prosecution. I promise you the defense attorneys will eventually scour everything for a technicality or error by LEO. Why don't they lock down the air space or street or something?

I don't think you know me.

Honestly the Pima County S.O. has botched up the protocol concerning evidence and the preservation and likely the handling of evidence, the mere preservation of the crime scene, releasing the victim's property four different times allowing every Tom Dick and Harry to wander threw it was amazingly inept. There was no reason for the rush, no one else lived there, a complete rookie move. Defense attorney will have a field day.

Agree. If the completely crazy scenario of it being the S-I-L, there are so many avenues of evidence contamination it's gonna be a **** show.

Can't really tell, is that another circular cover to the agent's right or is that a round table? Wouldn't have two cisterns like that or two covers on a septic system. I don't know that it would be a sanitary sewer manhole.

Look go to the damn Tucson municipal website and it will tell you that Catalina Foothills neighborhood where Nancy Guthrie resided and it tells you that area of Tucson, Arizona, uses septic tanks rather than a municipal sewer system. Pima County requires engineered conventional systems or alternative, advanced treatment units due to rocky, shallow, or steep terrain. Approved types include gravity-fed systems with trenches, low-pressure dosing systems, or, in challenging soil conditions, engineered aerobic treatment units. They are required by Pima County's Department of Environmental Quality to be inspected every 10 years.

Also they have electric, phone and water only. All utilities are required burial only. External lighting is regulated by the Pima County's Department of Environmental Quality to not exceed the light pollution. The Outdoor Lighting Code applies to all outdoor lighting throughout the City of Tucson and unincorporated Pima County. The code is designed to minimize light pollution, reduce energy waste, and protect access to the dark night sky for everyone. See Zoning Code Chapter 27, Section 27.5, Outdoor Lighting.

In other words there are no manholes back there, it's a septic tank.

There are actually TWO entirely separate septic systems on the property. Please see attached property records.
