$2.79 in Lubbock today.

Where was that? The lowest I saw was $2.99 at the Walmart on 114th and Quaker.

It was on Slide. Valero I think.

I would think a barrel of oil hits a new high

after the failure of "negotiations" with the Islamic Republic terrorists today

It was a failure the minute he caved with the two week "deal". He got played and beat by Iran.

Trump is neither a master businessman nor good negotiator.

Iran could loosen control on the SoH to give the appearance that DJT & Bibi are the problem

There was never going to be an agreement and depending on your definition of ceasefire that may also be impossible

That being said Opening the SoH at least temporarily is probably a smart move

Forcing the proposed US blockade to stop outbound tankers would put Trumpin an even worse position

Has absolutely nothing to do with who's running the state.

WTI down just under $95 this morning, and testing the $90 floor much is a much more likely scenario than $125 or higher.

I'm old enough to remember when leftists were claiming WTI would be $156 a barrel

that was three weeks ago.

WTI is $93.94 today

Remember what I told you about replacement costs and the timing of their shipments affecting the daily prices.

Be patient. This is not a crisis, not for the US anyway.

My bad, but, I do love that all things considered, prices aren't crazy high, just "hmmm, well it's just a few bucks a month, but worth it" higher. I can live with this for, well, ever, if I'm being honest. Then again, I only fill up once a month.

Well there's a reason I am a little sensitive to this subject because of my personal history. Dad was transferred to the New York office of the oil company he worked for in the very early 70s. I was in junior high at the time. When the first OPEC oil shortages happened, I was an easy target. From Texas, Dad was an oil exec and let's face it, junior high is just brutal under normal circumstances but I was insulted and teased every damn day. Was pretty traumatic back then but meh, helped form me into into the cast iron b**** that I am today.

Since Americans have the attention span of gnats you can't expect them to realize that

in 1974 during the Arab Oil Embargo a gallon of gas cost

Peak embargo (~$0.84/gal) in 2026 dollars this is $5.90 to $6.20 a gallon of gasoline

Physical brent prices are coming in over $130 with the paper being below $95.
Plenty of conspiracies as to why there is an all-time 30% gap, but one has to guess there will be a violent convergence, and somebody is going to get their face ripped off

There is just so much real-time demand for Asian and European companies, and even in Australia, firms are willing to pay whatever price is quoted to meet current needs.

If you were a fertilizer company that needs petrochemicals now to get your products refined for the May growing season, it's worth the premium versus having no product at all.

If paper contracts (which are financial products to represent actuals) are lagging physical deliveries (the actuals) there could be an ugly spread shrinkage (from its all time wide 30%) which gets somebody into a world of pain.
