It would be nice to have a larger portion of the world using our oil and natural gas. A healthy O&G industry is still important for the state of Texas

The people who make the "are we pissed off" decisions are making money in this market.

I cannot imagine the sums of money won/lost on the oil markets today. I almost feel sorry for the people who got left holding the bag.

I have a heavy position in UPS. I was up about 25% this last quarter until the last few weeks. Now I'm up about 2%.

Oil prices are going crazy and Trump is working on bringing them back in control.

For the free market mobs, isn't this price fixing? Maybe the price of a barrel should be $150 for right now.
Are we okay with this price manipulation?

It is the opposite of price fixing. It is the market doing the job in a tight supply situation of squashing uncesseary demand and encouraging maximum output from storage and production that can get to the market.

Price gouging, as you would call it, is a great thing to help people out as it actually solves a supply/demand imbalance. The alternative is a New York City style rent control which results in massive shortages.

Trump just told CBS in a phone interview that the war is almost over. His exact phrase "very complete, pretty much."

Oil now down for the day. And still dropping.

My guess is Infinity AG saying Trump is committing price manipulation? :-)

IA, it is a feature, not a bug. Literally the job of the president to act in the interest of the US. If the "free market"
doesn't buy in, well they certainly do not have to.

LOL. People who understand the oil industry just roll with punches. Much like the weather is Texas, just wait a few minutes, things will change.

Japan and South Korea are more dependent on ME oil than China and by a long shot. Oil disruption is very bad for their economies.

Also one of the reasons we don't want a China-allied Iran holding the ME hostage in the event of an Asian regional conflict. China knows energy imports are a weakness and have addressed it by building > 6 month reserves and focusing heavily on coal, nuclear, and solar power for their grid. Japan and SK would run out of oil a long time before China.

I have no problem with manipulation and adjustment, by only complaint is let's not pretend it is free market and contort ourselves to fit into that framework.

In reality, we do things in our interest. Socialism when needed (especially to billionaires) and capitalism when needed (when billionaires are making money).

This is the reality.

This maybe a dumb thought but I'm curious if it's worth it now to build a canal through that piece that sticks out. Would be further from Iran and you could set up defensive batteries etc.

Yup. One has to have nerves of steel to work in this business. Computer jockeys like IA don't have a clue how the energy supply system actually works.

Just a few years ago when blue and green hydrogen were all the rage, both South Korea and Japan were seriously looking at transitioning their electricity generation to hydrogen.

The plan was to ship the hydrogen via ammonia over to those places and crack it back into nitrogen and hydrogen.

I'm not in that area any longer, thankfully, but I know that as soon as Trump got elected, all talk of these ammonia projects here in the states pretty much dried up immediately. So, I'm not sure if those countries are still pursuing that path.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Liberals seriously have zero creative bones in their bodies

The imitation is the point.

But it's not funny. Not even a little, cause it's copy cat.

It's pretty weak and lacks thought, creativity. That's the point.

Democrats(?) 2026: Gas prices in California and HI are way too high. Oil hit an overnight high before plummeting, darn it.
