LOL. People who understand the oil industry just roll with punches. Much like the weather is Texas, just wait a few minutes, things will change.

I remember May of 2008 oil prices were at 127 dollars a barrel, everyone was dumping their gas guzzlers for gas friendly cars. Even remember hearing about police departments not having money to gas their cars. By February of 2009 price of oil was down to 41 dollars a barrel. Made some money off the market when I bought shares at 55 dollars. Should have waited just a few more days. Oh well, lesson learned, fun times back in those days.
Can't decide if I want to be cute & cuddly, or go blow some sh*t up.

Depends on how often they receive their shipments and how competitive the nearby stations are. Gas stations compete on pricing constantly, unless in a rural area with little competition.

And like when that went up, it was a bit later (in that case, near decades) when things went back to the way they were.

Get my price per gallon back down from $3.49 that it is that down to $2.03 like it was a few weeks ago, and we can truly be "Mission Accomplished."

Here's to looking forward to seeing prices drop back down just as quickly as it went up, even at the same increments.

Let's come back to this for a moment.

My late Dad was an oil company exec, big oil company worldwide. Back then, most big oil companies were very vertically integrated, from ground to pump. His main area of expertise was in pipelining worldwide. What are they running? Crude or product (gas, diesel or heating oil)? Then they would use trucks to deliver gas to their stations and a very small number of independents. Usually those indies were in smaller demand areas wherein it was not worth it for the company to build for their distribution system.

That type of system has changed considerably since then. The stations were separated out from the other core oil production parts of drilling, extracting and refining, meaning those could be sold. In the mid 70s Dad was in Saudi Arabia negotiating such a deal with Aramco. A part of that decision was the effects of the OPEC oil embargo and how much the company owned stations were losing in revenue at that time.

We just don't sweat the small stuff. We have lost loved ones, gone through s***, come out the back end and just keep going. Our parents went through a helluva lot more s*** and taught us how to be self reliant.

Why they would kick us out the door in the morning and we would not be back until right before dark. They trusted us. "What is the worst that can happen? A skinned knee? Broken bone? Road rash? Or just filthy dirty which we will hose off after we strip them in the backyard, hand them a towel and tell them to go get into the tub."

Parents could be very strict but also pretty unconcerned as well. "You'll live."
