Jerry Jones says QB Cooper Rush’s contract incentive that would have been reached — and would’ve paid Rush $250,000 — if he played today was NOT the reason Trey Lance started for the Dallas Cowboys…#DallasCowboys #cowboys #dallas #NFL pic.twitter.com/6sKu97vpiH

The absurd part is Jerry saying he didn't know about the incentives but wants to play the gm role. This is why Dallas's ceiling is where it is.

Yeah…this is my thought as well. Don't be atrocious last week and maybe you get the start and get that bonus. They also wanted to get a look at Lance.

Why should we care about Rush's bonus? If he went undefeated in Daks absence, he would've got enough snaps.

Because it shows one of two things.
1. Jerry doesn't know what he's doing because he couldn't remember rush having this incentive.
2. Jerry is an ass and refuses to pay the back up after a stupid contract to his starter.
Either way, Dallas will never win again as long as Jerry controls things.
I've maintained forever that a good backup is worth their weight in gold, especially in an era where QBs rarely seem to make it through the season unscathed.DannyDuberstein said:
Lance needed to play yesterday. This isn't a charity. Rush played well enough this year to likely be too expensive to retain, so you need to start looking at options. Jerry is awful at public speaking and does not think ahead about what he's going to say.
There are two options I see with this, one is that McCarthy already has decided Lance has no future really.Vince Blake said:
Only thing I would add is that Rush is set to be a free agent and this may impact his decision to resign with the Cowboys, assuming they want to bring him back.
Personally, I think once the Cowboys were officially eliminated from the playoffs, which was prior to the Bucs game, they should have handed the reins over to Lance to evaluate him more.
That doesn't make sense to me. If his threshold is 55%, and he was already at 52.5%, then he only needed 2.5% of the offensive snaps. That's less than a half of a 17 game season. Dallas plays about 65 snaps per week. That works out to 28 snaps. Easy enough to put him in for a quarter or half and get thatTksymm7 said:
I'll say this and leave it alone; someone did the math on how many snaps Rush would've actually needed to hit his 55% mark, and it came out to him needing 80 snaps that game to do it. While not impossible, the odds of logging 80+ offensive snaps in an NFL game is pretty stinking low.
Jerry Jones was asked if he would ever give up being general manager of the Cowboys:

“No, just no. I bought the team. I think the first thing that came out of my mouth when somebody asked [after that transaction], 'Did you buy this for your kids?' I said, 'Hell no. I bought it…

Well, he had over 72 snaps 50% of the time he started this season.ramblin_ag02 said:
So he was under 49% and needed 55%. Not as bad but still doable. Makes Jerry look like an incompetent ass either way, but what else is new
