New Taylor Sheridan series incoming. This would be the first episode....maybe even a two part episode.

Hope we can add the machine to the trophy case next to the stolen bow.

Apparently a constable talked to the suspect, the constables misunderstood that the skid steer was stolen, not the trailer, so they went and questioned him about the trailer that was parked there and ran the plates and it didn't come up stolen so they called me to get clarification. Now that they know it's the skid steer that is stolen, hopefully that constable goes back and questions him about the machine.
I also just talked to my county investigator and they got a photo of him with the trailer in the machine on January 3 taking the machine northbound to McAllen, Texas. So the good news is that the machine is still out there most likely and not in Mexico.
The investigator up here is also going to be able to write a warrant so they can arrest this guy down there.

I was about to share that same story. For a minute I thought that might be our guy.
From Galveston County Constable's Post:
Galveston County, Texas On January 13, 2026, deputies with the Galveston County Precinct One Constable's Office and Galveston County Sheriff's Office in coordination with the United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force, were actively searching for Larry Brandon White. White has a lengthy criminal history with eleven felony convictions. White was wanted by the Galveston County Sheriff's Office for the felony offense of evading arrest or detention.
On the same date, a Precinct One deputy observed White operating a vehicle pulling a newly acquired flatbed trailer that had been altered and spray-painted in an apparent attempt to avoid identification. The trailer was loaded with approximately $75,000 worth of equipment, including a skid steer tractor.
As law enforcement approached after White exited the vehicle, he attempted to evade arrest by boarding a kayak and fleeing via a nearby waterway. Deputies located two bystanders on a boat who willingly assisted law enforcement. During the attempted apprehension, White resisted arrest multiple times before being subdued and taken into custody without further incident.
Further investigation by Precinct One deputies revealed that the trailer and all equipment it contained had been reported stolen from CenterPoint Energy facilities in Texas City.
White was booked into the Galveston County Sheriff's Office on his original felony evading arrest warrant with a $400,000 bond. Additional charges are being filed by the Galveston County Precinct One Constable's Office, including felony theft with a $400,000 bond and an additional felony evading arrest charge with a $50,000 bond.
This arrest was the result of a collaborative effort among multiple agencies and most importantly community members. Through teamwork and cooperation, deputies were not only able to safely get a career criminal and thief off the street but recover the stolen property.
A special thanks to the two young fishermen who didn't hesitate to let law enforcement jump on board their boat and chase this fugitive!!!

Update:
Later yesterday evening the owner of the broker company did reach out to me unprompted to let me know that they have filed with their own cargo insurance. While I'm not super confident in that, I'm glad they are still reaching out to me unprompted and trying to find a resolution on that front. Maybe now that there's no doubt or way insurance can claim this isn't theft since it's documented by law enforcement (hopefully with arrest to come) they won't be able to classify it as "non-delivery" and not pay out.
The more I think about those photos the detective got on 1/3/26 of the thief with the machine northbound and then without the machine southbound in Falfurrias, TX (north of where he lives), and the photos were taken about 5 hours apart, I'm wondering if that was him selling/offloading it instead of just moving it to another location… that paired with the knowledge that he was trying to sell it for $7,500, it seems too far away just to be moving it around to hide it.
Not sure what dates that he was first trying to sell it to dealers/rental yards. That would help tighten up the timeline and give a better probability of whether it's gone for good or not.

I wonder if he has an online posting trying to sell it anywhere

5 hour round trip north of Falfurrias works out to San Antonio. Wouldn't be surprised if he found a buyer there.

I talked to the constable and it sounds like they are going to have a written up and signed warrant tomorrow morning to go pick the guy up. Likely the machine is on a ranch somewhere between Falfurrias, Texas and San Antonio if I had to guess.
My best route of being made whole is probably still insurance (if we can win the battle of classifying this as theft vs "nondelivery") or the broker paying, followed by the investigator being able to use Geo location on the Guy's cell phone, as well as look at all of his cell phone data to see who he might have sold the machine to.

I am still struggling to find the guy's end game. I spoke briefly with Aggie118 today and we talked about this.
- Presumably,he takes the machine and intends to hold it for ransom.
Aggie118 - did the broker know his REAL identity at all when they dispatched him to you? I know there was another name the DOT was registered under; so is that who the broker thought they were dealing with? In that case, it is only you putting 2 and 2 together about the stolen service truck that led to this guy's real identity?
- We've learned through Aggie118's experience he's playing in some grey area here that avoids going to straight to jail, as long as he still has the machine.
- The minute he sells or gives up possession of the equipment he loses all protection has been theoretically hiding behind with the payment dispute ruse.
- As soon has he's found now - he's dead to rights guilty of theft.

My guess would be that he is trading on the anonymity of using somebody else's ID to grab gigs via e-commerce shipping platforms and is banking on the shippers of the equipment being more interested in just getting it there than having to file with insurance and get lawyers involved. So he gets paid more than he normally would, but ultimately delivers the equipment. In this case, with Aggie118 refusing to engage and no way to know whether he is going to show up with the equipment at the original destination without getting arrested, he just decided to sell it and disappear. Hopefully he is still north of the border for the constables to find him.

Guy like this usually won't go into Mex (unless he has close family there), crime groups over there would extort him to not turn him and he would have a hard time earning.
