There was some firewood at home depot this morning as of about 8am

Had to go to Booneville Kroger to get all of my stuff, so 3 days and TP HEB and Booneville Kroger twice and I got my REGULAR grocery list. SMDH
I made a comment to one of the TP HEB stockers that I thought getting there at 730 am would beat the loonies and he said "loonies don't sleep bro, there were people up here at 11 last night panic buying like hurricane Katrina was barreling down on us"
He did suggest Jones Crossing for stuff in future panic episodes, he said it's a largely student store and they don't have the money to panic buy.

I can assure you that is not the case at Jones Crossing since it's our normal store- although, they do a fairly good job of keeping things stocked so you can probably find stuff if you need it.
That parking lot has been packed since Tuesday. I had to pick up a prescription last night and didn't want to sit in the six car deep drive-thru line, so I decided to just go in. Had to go in the back way by Chick-fil-A because the left turn lane off Wellborn was backed up to the 2818 entrance ramp and finally found a spot by the gas pumps.
Students everywhere, all with overflowing carts- and you know, maybe if it's one or two kids buying for 4-5 roommates, I could probably understand. But for the most part, it was one kid with enough food for a family of five- and I've raised teenage boys so I feel like I'm a pretty good judge of how much food a college aged kid eats.
As I walked out, I was behind three college girls with a cart full of stuff- TP, two cases of water, various bags of food. One of them said "do you think we got enough?" There was an older gentleman loading up a couple of case of beer on the back of his motorcycle, our eyes met and he just shook his head.
this might be the one kind of weather where I wouldn't mind the Dome doing its thing

Sounds like the heavier ice line has moved further south. BTU is gonna be busy.

Local and weather models. Models always struggle with true arctic air down south. The front is ahead of schedule by about 10 hours so it s coming in faster and looks to be colder.

Went to Kroger on Boonville today at 2 pm. Totally normal shopping experience, all shelves stocked, and only one person in front of me at the checkout line.
It was pretty crowded at 10 am. But we got all the stuff on our list. Pharmacy was busy too.

The best resource I've found for covering extreme events which affect B/CS is actually a Houston based site. While it's Houston MSA - centric, they also cover the fringe areas like B/CS with roughly the same insight and detail. Whether it has been tropical or winter events their commentary is usually good to excellent, and if they experience uncertainty to a variety of variables, they will tell you.
I've been following them for about 3 years and appreciate their thorough no-hype coverage. They are updating morning, afternoon and sometimes evenings during events like this.

I don't find that at all. Actually most posters there don't believe winter weather ever happens. They are a pessimistic bunch lol
Brazos Valley Symphony scheduled for Sunday evening at Rudder Theater has been cancelled. Hopefully they're going to try and reschedule for a later date.
Lots of tantrums for sure, but I also feel that some of the more vocal minority there use a lot of acronyms and parrot the same phrases without actually understanding any of the nuance. Anyone just wandering in is probably not going to benefit much from it and may be more confused or concerned
Yeah makes sense. I like to follow the different models that they post on there. If a person doesn't have any weather knowledge, that site would be tough to follow.
John Sharp's favorite grocery store was fully stocked and had few shoppers when I stopped by after work.
