It was my first thunder sleet. However, I got a thunder snowstorm in NW Arkansas back in the 90s

I wouldn't count on it, seems like everywhere between here and there got some ice

Uhhh I would have gotten a room at the IAH Marriott yesterday if I had a flight today.
That being said, check DriveTexas and see what it showed about roads. There are a lot of overpasses and bridges between here and there.

Problem may be just getting out of your neighborhood. We're in south CS and my driveway is thick with ice.

There's a reason why that didn't happen as in my preference is to stay home. I was really hoping for more icy conditions between here & IAH but not looking to be the case.
It's still raining here in Houston and it's only going to get colder, so you might get your wish.

I haven't checked my driveway yet because we have no intention of going anywhere today but my pool area is covered in ice as are my trees and landscaping. I would not be trying to drive anywhere today.
Driveway and sidewalks are very slick on the south side of town. Surface roads don't look horrible but you won't catch me trying to drive this morning

The good thing is CS has zero power outages right now and Bryan only has 17.
I'm in the northern Brazos valley had two inches of rain yesterday and good coating of freezing rain/sleet last night.
CS had unrelated outages last night from someone hitting a utility pole with their car. For all the things that CoCS does wrong, I have to give them credit for proactive tree/line management.
BTU showing a few transformer issues here and there, but look to be resolving pretty quickly. Hopefully those folks get warmed up quickly.

Lots of ice on the roads. I hate driving on ice. I grew up driving on snow, which is do able, ice is another matter. Stay safe and stay home.
I trust this forum more than the local news.

My driveway and trees (in Traditions) are covered in ice. It looks like there's some ice in the street too, but I have no desire to go out and check!
Ice was thick enough on our driveway in Edelweiss that the kids could slide down it on a tube
