The cars with FSD send data on detected pothole locations (suspension impact/travel measurement) back to the main overall mapping system. At some that data will be used to alert FSD of the pothole and try to avoid it in the future. Currently do not a have Tesla, do not know if the cameras detect them for avoidance

In the future I bet they have a "parking" option that includes drive thru. Absolutely insane.

I experienced something annoying last night and I'm wondering if there's a setting I need to change. I drove in from San Antonio and went straight to McFerrin to work with a student entrepreneur group. I got to campus at 6% which I knew was enough to get home with about 2% but when I mapped my house the car wanted me to go to a supercharger for 5 minutes then get home with 25%. When I had it remove charging stops it confirmed I would be at 2% when I got home and that's what happened. Then when I got home it gave me an urgent warning that the battery was low and I should charge immediately. Seems like it should know by now I have a charger at home and let me go home without recommending a charging stop first.

Anyone else experience that?

This happens to me all the time. Tsla either do not recognize a charger at the house or they want to arrive with a certain % charge.

If I have 5-10% left til destination, it will tell me to drop by a supercharger. I just ignore it and remove the charging stop.

Was going home and would have had 10 miles left. Tsla recommended me go back 5 miles to charge then head home. Makes no sense but its a small issue

Even if you don't give a flip about green/global warming/whatever, it is so freaking awesome to just plug it in at night, have a full tank and save a bunch of cash in the process. Especially in the winter/rain, where you don't have to stand outside anymore to pump gas.

Fastest car, I've ever owned (Porsche, Jag XF Supercharged, 280z, etc...)

And as FSD continues to improve, that will be the ultimate game-changer. One day, we will put the address in for the beach, take a nap, wake up and be there. That's gonna be a bit, but it will happen.

Driving a Tsla the past 5 years has been a positive life changer for me. Going from a Tsla to a BMW makes me feel like I am living in the past. Haven't gone to a gas station in the past year after the family when completely to electric x 3 cars and been amazing.

No more oil changes, brake pads changes, coolant, oil checks, belts. The only service I have had over 2 MY and 150K miles is one battery change and Tsla service came to my house putting a new one in an hr for about $150.

Thats right. 150K miles and I have had to change the 12V battery once.

Why does it say he flew to Texas to see the new cars, but the car has a Florida plate on it? I am just curious.

I used Smart Summon the other day just to freak out my niece and nephew. That's a wild feature if you haven't tried it yet.

My guess is it has something to do with Tesla not being a Texas dealer, therefore they can't get the new hard dealer tags and printable tags are no longer available so they slap that on and nobody notices (even if not registered in FL)

Scared to use it. I would need a relatively inactive parking lot

I have used smart 4 times. One at costco to see what happens. One when it was raining. Its pretty wild and people do double takes.

No update here yet, I hear it will come by next week for HW4 cars.

Tsla used to not have dealership status or something like this in Texas. 1st Tsla had to bring tags to DMV to get tx plates.

2nd and 3rd Tesla, paid all taxes at pickup and tags sent to me.

Lots of answers on the arriving home with a really low charge question. At some point maybe they'll add a setting to tell the car you have a charger at home and to skip charging stops if you're going home. Still as Sea said 5% is the lowest setting for arrival charge so my guess is it still would have wanted me to go charge before going home.

Got a good laugh at GeorgiAg's gif. The lady that rose over there with me said she never uses crime control some using FSD the entire trip took some time to get used to. Then she said she's looking for a gas station at a half tank so me getting home at 2% would have freaked her out.

I haven't found smart summon to be super useful but I'm guessing when winter gets here I'll use it more. It does get double takes. When they add in the reverse feature I'm guessing I'll use the hell out of that. I definitely want my car to drop me off at the door then go park itself. That would ale me use smart summon more as well.

The garage parking will be interesting for me. We're a corner lot and the garage is on the cross street. Right now it stops outside the front door. When we first got it we were on like 12.5.x and it tried to get into the garage a couple of times but I wasn't confident it knew what it was doing so I stopped it.

On navigation, just change your required arrival percentage and it will remove the stops.

Yeah smart summon seems more amusing than useful. Usually auto time it connects to the car and starts towards me. I'm so close that it's pointless.

Agree. I see it as an early iteration of something that one day will come get you automatically because it knows you're leaving the store. One day we'll look back and laugh at how you actually had to use the app to tell the car to come get you.

If they had the feature where the car would drop you off at the front of a store and go park itself I'd use that all the time.
Medaggie

I am sure this feature will come eventually when FSD is approved. I have only found summon helpful when it was raining. Other were running to their cars while my family waited under the cover while the car drove up.

I bet in places where it rains often, it would be helpful. In Texas, not very.

My wife wants to use it for groceries but she won't even engage fsd on her own so not sure how she's going to convince herself to let the thing drive with no one in it

The concept is a good one, and it certainly has utility if it improves, but unless you move like a snail you're gonna be to your car already before it does anything more than pull out of the parking space.

What is the range of Smart Summons? Can you have it find its own way out of the West Campus Garage after a game while you hang out at the A&M Hotel Bar?
Medaggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Range is about a city block in 360 degrees.

One of the missed benefit of a Tsla is soccer moms/dads with dogs.

Makes going food shopping and a bunch of errands a breeze. Short of Ice cream, wife will go grocery and finish her errands and not worry about food getting hot.

When I drop by kid at soccer practice, I can sit in the car watching netflix/youtube while watching him practice for 2 hrs.

Take my dogs with me sometimes and I can run errands leaving the car 70degrees while she is in the car.

I know these benefits are not deal breakers but once you have it, you will never go back.

I have my cabin overheat set to 90 or 95, so even when I don't turn the AC on before leaving, I never get into a hot car.

have you considered one of the plug in refrigerators they make for Tesla? I thought about a small one but decided against it.
Medaggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have one for an old Gas car but don't need it with a Tsla. I can keep cabin 60 degrees if I want.

Car is set to never go above 100 and I just turn it to 60 a few minutes before getting in. Even when I forget, going from 100 to 70 is quick compared to getting into a 150 degree car.

I was one of the early adopters of Tesla when MY first came out. I had the original and was a much better car than my BMW. Traded it in for a 2023 model with HW4 and the car is slightly better but Tech/FSD much better. I am considering trading this in for a 2026 updated model b/c I hear the ride is excellent.

My daughter is going to college soon and she will be getting a 2026 or 2027 MY.

Ambivalent over if I get it based upon what I've seen. The random braking seems like it would be uncomfortable/annoying, so waiting until that gets fixed and continuing to park myself is fine.

I asked Grok

Your 2025 Tesla Model 3 (based on the provided VIN) is equipped with Hardware 4 (HW4), making it compatible with FSD v14. Tesla began rolling out FSD v14 (starting with v14.1 in software update 2025.32.8.5) to the first wave of customers on October 7, 2025. The rollout is happening in stages, initially to a limited group before expanding more widely.
You can expect the update to become available for your vehicle in the coming days to a few weeks, as Tesla pushes it out progressively to avoid overwhelming their servers. Keep an eye on your Tesla app or the vehicle's software menu for the update notificationmanual checks or opting into advanced software preferences (if available) might help speed things along.

Well this is annoying. I can't put air in one of our tires due to the recessed nature of the stem through the wheel. Anyone have this issue and buy a compatible fitting? Frustrating.
