Had a friend who worked early in the am, fell asleep and lose control. Car rolled over and was completely totaled. He got reallllllly lucky and was able to get out. I think most would have minimally broke something.

Anyhow, I am always on FSD when I am not actively trying to make a move like passing someone. Never off FSD when it keeps in the lane way better than I can.

I am confident if all cars were on FSD today, there would be very few accidents and exceedingly low numbers of bad accidents.

Agree with that last part. Once they figure out construction zones it's going to be far superior to a human.

Absolutely is safer than people for regular driving. There are several times it reacted before I was realizing it.

So the improved parking has been interesting so far. We live on a corner lot and prior to v 14 it would stop in front of the house on our street. Since the upgrade I've let it drive me home three times, twice down our street and once on the cross street. The two times down our street it got to the front of the house and kept going, made the turn and pulled into the driveway. The first time it stopped behind my wife's car in the driveway. The second time it pulled into that same spot then it backed up and pulled over into my spot in the garage and did a good job positioning itself in there. Yesterday I came home from the cross street and it turned onto our street then realized it had screwed up and did a u-turn in the neighbors driveway and drove to my driveway around the corner. Where it parked behind my wife's car. Work in progress but the improvements are noticeable for sure. It's an incredible system.

Was able to take advantage of the EV business owner tax credit and taking delivery of a new Y shortly. Will be selling my 21 Y that I just bought like 6 months ago. Was a tough call because the 21 is super sharp, 48k miles, AWD, $2000 acceleration boost, $300 HEPA/Biohazard mode upgrade, 6 more months of full Tesla warranty (it was bought used from tesla by prior owner thus has additional Tesla 1 year used warranty), has the option for $60 month continued warranty through Tesla for up to 36 months after that because base warranty is still in place, new tires, and I bought a ton of accessories thinking I would keep it for 3-4 years.

Any recs on where to list for sale? FB marketplace, here, other sites?

Was able to use FSD 14.x quite a bit this weekend. Saturday morning i left at 530am to drive to Wallis for a charity cycling event. Went to McDonald's for breakfast and forgot to see if it really would take me through the drive through so that was disappointing. Turned it on immediately after getting my McGriddles and it drove all the way to Wallis. Then I let it drive all the way home. Yesterday we went to the Renaissance Festival and back. Some thoughts:

I REALLY like the new FSD profiles in place of the old profiles and the ability to control speed. I quickly settled into using Hurry on the highway and Chill or Standard around town. I wants to drive too fast around town in Hurry so slowing it down means a less aggressive profile. This is a lot easier when scrolling the wheel for 2-3 clicks changes everything. This is a lot better, IMO.

The effort to make it more responsive to road debris is really good but it tends to see the tar strips on older asphalt as debris. That will get better with time but it was annoying.

It seems better at seeing and reading speed limit signs though it still missed several in a row Saturday afternoon. It didn't miss any Sunday on the way to Ren Fest.

It's very polite, consistently letting people merge in while exiting Ren Fest in bumper to bumper traffic.

It's inconsistent in where i parks at my house. Sometimes it stops in the driveway behind my wife's car and sometimes it pulls into the garage on my side. About 50/50. I assume it will learn that over time and get better at it. We can't change sides because the charger won't reach her side.

Leaving Ren Fest we had one of those merges where there's an officer directing traffic by stopping one side and letting the other one go. We had a stop sign on our side but the officer was waiving our side through and it didn't even think about stopping at the stop sign. Wasn't sure if that was programming or what to think but it wsa impressive.

Overall this is a significant upgrade. v13 was amazing but this is a significant step forward. It really is incredible how good this system is. People that experience it for the first time are blown away by how good it is. There's nothing else even close to it on the road.

FSD 13 seems way better on my X than it does on the cyber truck. Made a couple somewhat serious errors so far on the trip from woodlands to my house.

I have been on V14 for a few weeks and it is so close to being autonomous.

I had a long discussion with an Anti Musk/Tsla friend who was adamant that Mercedes level 3 was better b/c they achieved a higher autonomous rating. What Mercedes has is a paid rating that essentially is no better than cruise control. I think FSD is better than the avg driver and in 1-2 yrs, it will be 2+ standard deviation better than the avg driver.

When I have these conversations I always start with a trip I made that the other car couldn't have done. In the case or Mercedes it could not have taken me to Wallis because it doesn't go on the highway at a speed anyone is going to be happy driving. From what I've read recently MB isn't even functioning in Texas. It's severely limited in where it will go and what conditions it can perform in. Daytime only. Clear weather only. Approved roads only. Limited to 59 MPH currently. I don't care what level it's certified at I care how practical it is and MB isn't even remotely practical for anyone in Texas.

To be clear I'm not emotionally invested in Tesla winning this thing. I think it's awesome that MB is where they are. But Tesla is a very long way ahead of everyone else right now and it isn't close. I forgot another trip this weekend. We went to Hempstead for dinner. I mapped the restaurant in our garage, the car backed out, closed the garage door and drove the entire way including choosing a spot and parking. Then in drove home and parked in the garage. The highway driving was at or around 80 the whole way and the return trip was at night. Mercedes is years away from that trip by their own admission.

Total operating area of Mercedes Drive Pilot. Limited to EQS and S series Mercedes ($120,000+ car) and only way to get access is by paying $2,500 per year. Only works under these conditions on these roads:

Clear lane markings on approved freeways

Moderate to heavy traffic with speeds under 40 MPH

Daytime lighting and clear weather

Driver visible by camera located above driver's display

There is no construction zone present.

Musk's "algorithm" is all about increasing iterations. I think he also sees that as the best cybersecurity defense when it comes to IP: make it outdated by the time the other side (or country) invariably steals it. He's talked before about not liking patents because it stalls innovation, gives the others a recipe book, etc. I think his comments on the subject are basically, "If you have time to file patents, you're not innovating fast enough."

Anyway, I personally think Tesla is going to ahead of the game until they oust Elon or they get regulated to hell. I think it's far more likely all the other big brands try and fail to keep up before ultimately licensing the tech from Tesla directly. Then you'll have BMW 7 series cruising down the highway featuring "Tesla Control" while the owner sits in the back seat with the window shades drawn.

This will be the end game. No other companies has the fleet or video real driving data to do what Tsla does. Is there a different and better way to do it without data, Maybe and if so will be the market leader assuming costs is not an issue.

But eventually every car that wants to be competitive and want to be in the FSD game will need to license with Tesla using their AI/data/compute. No one is even close and I think at least 5+ years behind. Even if they pour all their efforts in and catch up in 5 years, Tsla would have already won the game.

Yeah people like that are emotionally attached to their position and aren't really interested in the truth. Tesla may not win but they have a massive head start. Reviewing the criteria for Level 2 and Level 3 I don't see how FSD isn't level 3 already. Or is it and I just don't know that? Official or not FSD seems to be Level 3. Further while I can see the MB system meeting that criteria it's severely limited in both where in can drive and the variety of driving conditions it can operate in. The difference between FSD and MB is so significant that if they are both 3 then the rating isn't useful for consumers. After having FSD I wouldn't pay for the MB system as it currently exists.

Putting MB Drive Pilot against FSD in real life is like an pro MMA guy fighting a 5 year old. It is really this different.

MB achieved Level 3 b/c some agency thought it was a great idea to give them the badge of "driver can safely and LEGALLY take their eyes off the road and engage in other activities". MB essentially paid off some state DMV to allow them this badge under very very specific cases like driving only on the highway, well marked, less than 40mph.


It is quite ridiculous and completely makes these ratings invalid.

Wyamo achieved level 4 meaning no need for anyone to take over. They are doing a good job but way too specific, expensive, and can't produce enough. If their cars were 40K and could drive anywhere, they would have won the game but they are far from this.

Cybertruck has lagged in capability. Less data available for the size of the vehicle. It just received the 14.1 to early access owners last weekend.

Yea but it has made really dumb mistakes. Passing on a 2 way road and staying in the lane of opposing traffic and then completely ignoring what navigation said to do when approaching an exit on two occasions. Those are simple things.

Sent in the info for the Texas ev rebate but still waiting to hear back. If things work out I'll get $7500 irs credit + $2500 Texas EV and I already got $500 off as returning customer + $1000 off as a student (signed up for an hour of community college for $100) + found a model with a replaced hood that was $2000 off.

Tesla and their valuation is not a car company. Their thesis has not been a car company for the past 4 years. In no way are they a 1.5T company selling cars for about 7k profit. I started to accumulate Tesla for the past 5 years and the only reason I have not lately is I am 60% Tsla Weighted.

Man… the navigation on FSD has gotten unbelievably bad recently. Mostly unusable.

I guess it's just the navigation that is so bad all of the sudden but I only use it with FSD
