As I posted the other day, my FSD has seemingly gotten worse recently. At least as far as navigating all the ridiculous construction on 1604 on the north side of SA.

Are you on HW4/FSD14 etc?

Got Updated FSD today on MY but buy MX yet. Overall Much better.

1. Phantom breaking is real and i am sure it will be fixed soon
2. The additional driving modes like mad max drives very human like
3. It sensed a dip in the road and slowed down. Old version always kept same speed and was jolting
4. Drove up my inclined driveway, waited for me to open my Gate, and then went through after gate opened
5. Reading speed limit signs much better
6. Slowed down in school zone when flashing. When not flashing, did not. Improvement
7. Went to Gym and car parked itself in first avail spot. A little tilted and not as well as I could but serviceable.

Went on a 30 min kid to school drive and went flawless.

This car is so close to autonomy its crazy. TBH, I am less stressed than if I were in the car with my daughter,.

It's like those buttons on street corners to get the crosswalk signal. Does not do a damn thing.

No. 13.2.9. I don't know what all that means. But it used to work much better it seems.

Hmm. Pretty cool. You can get custom door lights. Would be cool to have the A&M logo.

I have been on FSD 14 and it is absolutely amazing. I am essentially on FSD 99% of the time now. Still sporadic phantom braking so it sees something that I don't. Still comes to a complete stop at a red light/stop sign that I just slow/roll through but FSD is driving correctly.

The 5 drive modes (sloth to mad max) is really cool. If you want to speed, do mad max. If you want to drive exactly the speed limit go sloth. If you want somewhere in between pick one of the other 3.

FSD 14 overall reacts much faster than a Human.

It may have saved me from a wreck today. I should have recorded it but forgot. I wish I did to see if I could have seen the oncoming car making an ill advised left turn.

Two car lane, green light for awhile, Truck on left was turning left, I was going straight. The car started to "phantom" brake and I didn't think much of it but then came to an almost complete stop. Then a car coming the other direction suddenly appeared making a left turn. I didn't see this car cut in front of my green light until well after my car broke and I don't know if I could have broke in time. I did not see the car bc the truck turning left next to me was big and essentially blocked my view.

I have no idea how FSD saw the bad driver before I did but I assume they have camera views that I just didn't have from my seating position.

FSD 14 is truly a game changer and I really think it is currently better than an average driver.

I got in an accident in my 3 Series the exact same way. I was cruising through a green light, car turns left in front if me. I caught it at the last second and stood on the breaks. As a result, I hit him in the rear quarter panel instead of the front passenger door.

Witness sees it, I get her info. Police come, guy tries to claim I was timing the light. Police don't buy it after talking to me and the witness. Report is neutral, though.

I file a claim against his insurance. Insurance says they filed on mine. It goes to arbitration between the two insurance carriers. Arbitrator rules in the other guys favor. Says the damage pattern established that he had control of the intersection even though I had the green. Unreal. I was livid. They should have put me on the stand. The only reason the damage was there was because I was paying attention and saved that dude from a serious injury.

I do not understand how you are at fault if the light was green and you are going straight? This seems like a no brainer.

Another great thing about a Tsla is all accidents are recorded and you can record any event.

Once, some driver lost control and took out a neighbor's front yard then left. Tsla recorded it all and captured the license plate. Gave it to the owner and have no idea what they did with it.

Another time, saw an accident where one car ran the red light. Went home to drop kids off and came back with both drivers arguing who had the green light. Showed the video to the police officer and solved the dispute.

Edit: It hasn't really rained here (ATL) in two months. The day I get FSD update, it's a flood. Grrr. I can't even try it out.

First drive in the books. Definitely felt smoother, especially through turns, navigating yields and stop signs. Only time it buzzed me was when I picked up my phone to see if it would, so that's still in there. Seemed a lot more forgiving about me using the touchscreen, though.

Mad Max is as advertised. I popped it on on the highway (70 mph limit) and it was pretty much pinged out at 84, moving with traffic and overtaking. Even took a ramp to a different highway at 70. That was interesting, because it's how I would drive it but I was white knuckling a little bit. I doubt I use Mad Max much. Standard seemed to be better than before, cruising right about 10% over.

It stopped raining, so I took it for lunch. Started FSD from the parking spot. It was a little timid on getting out of a tight spot, so I had to take over.

What I noticed that was new is that it will steer around potholes and the small road hazards better. That was annoying to me about FSD 13. It would hit obvious road hazards such as potholes.

I did experience the brake issue at one stop. Something spooked it but there was nothing there. Recovered quickly and then worked fine.

Definitely have to watch the speed. I was going 15 mph over in "hurry" mode and passed a sitting cop. I took over then too.

All in all, it does seem more intelligent.

We already know the car can pick up police/fire/EMS with the new update, right? If Elon can get this thing to recognize troopers on the highway just by seeing their light bars without them being on, and then automatically slow down to the speed limit....

Amen. Or is Elon gonna pay the bill?

Has anyone tried the "Tesla was driving defense in Court?" I'm sure that will work.

I could see the cross-examination now:

You said it was driving, but your own records indicate you had it in "Mad Max" mode? You think drivers in Mad Max movies obey speed limits?

Someone test out if it recognizes if there's a school zone speed limit because my biggest gripe with it is that it doesn't slow down for those.

Needs UI updates to make the destination parking options more readily apparent. Also needs better route planning so it doesn't get stuck in difficult to navigate routes like turning left on 6 lane roads with no light. Other than that it was pretty flawless.

I went to a school zone with flashing light, car dropped to 20mph (posted). Went through the same and was not flashing, went 35 (30mph zone). So +1 experience says it does.

Just installed the newest V14.1.4 and will see if there are any improvements come tomorrow.

On V14.1.3, the high level of driving is stunning. I drove behind 3 cars. 1st car crossed the center line and I had no idea what for. The 2nd did the same. My Tesla started doing the same even before I saw the fallen tree branch. Just like a Human.

The 5 driving mode is a great improvement. Before, you had to do offsets which was a pain and went to slow sometimes and too fast other times. I only really speed +10mph when I have a reason, otherwise always drive about +8mph over speed limit.

From what I can tell sloth mode = speed limit, Chill = +5mph, standard = +7-9, Hurry +9-12, Mad Max +12-15.

Quite exceptional.

Got my windshield shattered yesterday from some flying debris as that front blew in yesterday. I was using FSD 14.1 but no human or computer could have seen this coming!

Apparently that's gonna be a hefty price tag as I am reading you should do it through Tesla. I'll have to pay to have it tinted again (if I choose to).

Yesterday it recognized the flashing lights at the start of the school zone and changed the speed limit on the monitor to the 20 in the zone. However there's a left turn in that school zone and it changed the limit back to the regular limit of 30 after the turn. It didn't ever get to the regular speed but it did get to about 24 before we reached the end of the school zone. An improvement for sure but still not perfect.

It backed out of my garage, but then drove across my grass, lol. Not really fair though, because this time of year I have a ton of leaves. I live 1/4 mile back in the woods. Eventually it got back to my driveway. But v 13 would not have even attempted it.

Another issue I'm having is that before the update, it would take me to the employee parking lot at my firm. Now it wants to take me to the front door. Any ideas how to fix?

Sucks. I think the windshield replacement on my MYP was $2,100 and I had to pay out of pocket and then submit it for an insurance claim.

The $1300 or so windshield is why I specifically selected glass coverage on our policy.

I don't have glass coverage on our policy but when Tesla came out with their own windshield protection plan I decided to give it a try, at least for a year. I figure driving around Houston my odds are good for that paying off. We'll see.

So I think I have found the best utility of Mad Max mode, and it's on the freeway in bumper to bumper traffic. Version 13, on either hurry or standard, in bumper to bumper traffic would often not accelerate quickly enough from stop, keep moving me out of the left lane even when it was the best choice, and didn't really seem to anticipate the other drivers' actions very well. All of this has been somewhat fixed on a handful of morning drives.
