I think the answer is at least a couple of years. You could make an argument it was the best United has looked since SAF retired. Hey, we could lose 1-0 to Swansea and look bad doing so but it was really nice to see us play like that...been a long time coming.

Looked deadly all game
Had to watch the match delayed. Just finished the game. That was fun! It has been a few years since i can point to a time where i truly enjoyed watching them play. I always follow and root for Manchester United but they have not been fun to watch in recent years. I realize just one game and its a long season but definitely far more up-side potential than years past. Lukaku will end up being a way bigger signing than i initially understood. While Morata will likely get his goals this year I think Lukaku will once again be top 2 or 3 scorers in the Premier League and could easily be #1.
I listened to the match live while driving but finally got a chance to watch it this morning. Couple of thoughts.
Paul Pogba has the niftiest feet for a big man. Tall lanky guys are not supposed to be that slick.
There was a ton of creativity out there.
Matic may turn out to be the transfer of the season. I cannot believe Conte let him go. He really freed the whole team up.
Dumbest most misleading statistic ever: possession%. I looked and it was 55%-45%. I expected it to be in the low 70s at least.

Pretty substantial rumor is that Conte never wanted him to leave and didn't authorize his sale. It was done without his consent.
What did he do (allegedly)? Impregnate Abramovich's wife? Between that and the Costa mess they are not in a happy place. Not that I'm complaining.
Of course now there are stories suggesting that Conte approved it. At the end of the day, Conte's own words suggest he rated the player but the realities of the transfer market forced his hand. I don't think he'd give two craps about the economics of it all...that sounds like something only the bean counters at the front office care about.

Why are they booing Rashford?
I think it's because he won PK last season with a pretty obvious dive. Swansea would have won the match without it, and it was right in the middle of their relegation battle.

Rashford really needs to improve on his finishing, that should have definitely been 1.
