Holy crap that was fast.
Having Rashford tire out the defence for Martial to massacre the last 15 minutes is working out well so far.
That was a pretty sweet 5 minute run of goals at the end there
United have 15% of last season's goal tally two games into this season. Not too shabby.
Fast starts don't mean jack when it comes to winning leagues but they mean a lot when it comes to confidence. Been a long time since United put together 2 performances like that. I'm sure we'll lay an egg at some point but I already have more joy and optimism watching this team than I have for a while.

Really nice way to wake up this morning. Watched the highlights so didn't watch the whole match. Looks like United dominated possession again. Sounds like a few lapses in defending that should have conceded a goal or two, but were also unlucky ol to not score 1 or 2 others themselves. Taking care of these lower teams so convincingly is exactly what they didn't do last season.
Top of the table. Making it look easy......for now.
Who is this team and what have they done with the team we saw last year? Night and day. Amazing what a couple new additions (and one with limited fan-fare) will do.
Still realize this is a long season and the first opponents we faced are not top-of-the-table caliber but my goodness they are fun to watch right now. Last year they could not have done this against the worst team in the League not matter how hard they tried.
As far as Zlatan, I actually would not mind him coming back but I think his role would have to be FA Cup and other less important games to give Lukaku and others a break...

An expereinced striker of Zlatan's quality is always a good thing to have on your bench, especially if come January the club is going into CL round of 16 action (hopefully getting out of their pool), contending for the EPL and playing FA and League Cup games.planoaggie123 said:

Not strictly United related, but Rooney just scored against the noisy neighbors. Everton up 1-0 at the half.
Rooney has called it quits on his international career. All time leading scorer for United and England the English still **** on him.

I think it is a depth move. Obviously will not replace Lukaku. I could see maybe where he and either Martial or Rashford pair up for smaller cups (ie FA) to give key players a rest during a long campaign. While he is a larger than life personality, having someone with his experience I think will be a big plus for the younger guys on the team...
This is probably why Mou wanted to switch to a 3-5-2. That allows him to play both Zlatan and Rom together.Aggie_3 said:

Depth, locker room leadership, Lukaku will need a break every now and then and Zlatan can still contribute goals and experience

Why would you not?
He was the leading scorer last season and saved United's ass more than once. A motivated Zlatan has never not impressed. He will be supremely motivated coming back from his injury. He won't play every game like he did last season because he won't need to but that doesn't mean he shouldn't start some games. He gives you tactical options and that's never a bad thing.

United drawn in Group A of the CL with Benfica. Still need to pick the other two teams in the group but that's not a bad team to get from the Pot A group of teams.

The strongest pot C teams that we could get, IMO, are Besiktas, Napoli, and Roma...not in that order.
Basel as the Pot C team.
Now I'd say we'd want to avoid CSKA Moscow (travel) and RB Leipzig (they aren't half bad). Can't get Sporting due to Benfica being in the group.
Pot 4 has some bad travel options.
Would be nice to avoid Qarabag too for travel reasons.
Moscow it is...that'll be tricky but we should still be advancing if not outright winning this group.
All are good teams if in this competition but hard to imagine asking for a much better draw....
In the end, its not exactly murderers row. Better than Tottenham thats for sure.
Not a bad draw. Liverpool were handed an absolute gift of a draw and they will still **** it up. Spurs got shafted, good for them.

Arsenal and Everton are going to be putting in some serious travel time for their Europa League groups. Wonder if the allure of European football is still there for them?
Espn has some good videos of Zlatan being interviewed about his renewal, giving Lukaku the number 9, etc...pretty entertaining and the chick interviewing him is pretty hot too
I'm sure Arsenal will do what United did last year. They can probably advance out of that group with little issue even with a less than 1st choice squad. Whether or not they prioritize the knockout stage I'm sure will depend greatly on where they are in the league come February.
I would think/hope that Everton would prioritize it a little more given that they aren't likely to finish in the top 4, their fans would highly value that (any) trophy, and they have the team depth to actually compete in multiple tournaments.
