Is this an instance where Jose is just not what he use to be? I don't understand the inability to rest him. Against Southampton...he should be able to field a starting lineup with just Martial and Rashford and include maybe Mata/Lingard and be just fine. Do that for a few games and give Lukaku the rest he needs.

I try and watch the comparison with him and Morata and Morata has had more games off and looks much fresher at this point when watching him play. Lukaku needs to be on the bench for a few games. This is a long/tough spell of fixtures....

Well this is one way to get Lukaku some rest. Head injury that initially I thought was more grazing but obviously is much more serious.

Interesting exchange between Lindelof and DeGea as Lindelof calls a ball for DeGea. Lots of hands in the air between the two with Lindelof motioning like he's telling De Gea to "get his head in the game".

Edit: never looked like it should have been DeGea's ball to me.

AY has been charged with VC by the FA for that elbow. He's gone for 3 games. So a depleted back line will now have a third string RB. I guess Damian. That's a scary thought. Between him, Lindelof and Jones back there it's not going to be pretty. Maybe Jose will decide the best defense is a full on high pressing offense.

Lukaku is out at least 2 games. Zlatan for a month. So it will have to be Rashford, Martial, Lingard, Mata and Mkhi in some combination in front of Pogba and Matic.
