Huge BVB fan here. Typical trade for them. Get young talent, develop it then trade away for much higher price. Hence they are referred to as a "farm" club. Haaland will be next. Probably to Chelsea, Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Sancho is a fast, penetrating player. Creative passing / ball skills. He had many assists this way. A definite positive addition for Man U.

Sancho at RW, Varane upgrades Lindelof at CB. It's almost like Woodward got told to sign some pieces to keep fans happy.

Now get a quality #6. Someone to replace Matic and/or break up the McFred pairing.

Sancho getting the start for England.

It is weird but his wage isn't high by United standards and I don't think his presence blocks the development of a youth player.

It's like United want to keep 4 1st team keepers.

One of De Gea or Henderson has to be gone. Surely.

I'm a share holder MANU.

I would like to see the add Kalvin Phillips from Leeds for about $50million and Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for $50million.

Maybe a depth defender but otherwise I think that lineup pushes for the title.

Varane is more than a depth defender. He stiffens them up nicely. I still feel they need Phillips and Grealish.

LB - Shaw
LCB - Maguire
RCB - Varane
RB - Wan-Bissaka

S - Rashford

Phillips would be great, I don't see how we could add him and Grealish though unless we offload Pogba and/or Martial.

Big fan of Phillips. Would almost hate to see him leave Leeds to be honest. They are a fun team. If he does leave however def want him at Manchester United.

No way we add Grealish He will end up at City for $100MM plus.

That says more about our wage bill. Like I said, I've always liked Mata. He was a great player that unfortunately peaked in United's trough.

Yeah, don't disagree with you at all.

So do we think this Pogba to PSG smoke is legit? Or just typical transfer window crazy talk?
Dre_00
How long do you want to ignore this user?
If they can't convince Pogba to sign a new contract, then they'll likely sell to PSG. I don't think the bean counters at United are going to allow Paul to leave on a free.

Well, now that the Euros are over we have exactly 6 days till our first friendly and 33 days till our first EPL match. Most of our Euro players played a lot less than they could have. Pogba and Bruno went home relatively early. Rashford and Sancho barely even played. Shaw and Maguire played the most by far but you could argue that Maguire's effort was marginally beneficial as he was coming back from injury. Still, all the Euro players deserve an extended mental break...especially Rashford and Sancho (and Saka).

Will be interesting to see if we add anyone else of consequence. I'd like for any additional players to be added before the beginning of August but something tells me that's highly unlikely.

Rashford is out minimum of 12 weeks as he's getting shoulder surgery. He was playing hurt for a large part of last season so I can't say I'm surprised. Surgery scheduled for end of the month so that means he's not back till end of October.

Thank goodness he wasted weeks at the Euros....

Good article summarizing current state of transfer targets. For those w/o a subscription, I will summarize.

  • Don't expect anything to happen till mid-late August
  • Varane and Camavinga are the primary targets to bring in
  • Trippier is too expensive for a 31 year old and United will likely look at Dalot as a 2nd option at RB
  • Williams (on loan for a fee) and Lingard on a transfer are the most likely transfers out at this point; United will likely have to move players out before they can purchase

Surely they will do something with the 18,491 GKs on the squad.
Dre_00
How long do you want to ignore this user?
They'll probably sign someone to make it an even 18,492.
Dre_00

So Lingard has apparently expressed a desire to stay and fight for a spot. Ole says he's "in the plans at the moment".

This is where the bean counters at United always screw it up. Lingard is in the last year of his contract and about to turn 29. Even at his best, who does he displace in a best XI? Even considering rotation needs he's maybethe Daniel James role?

Just stop asking 30 million for a 29 year old in the last year of his contract. Sell him for 20 and move on.

Real Madrid reporters say Varane deal is imminent. This is United we're talking about but promising that news from "the other side" sees it as imminent.

If they can pull this off this week, I may have to reconsider my opinion of their transfer tactics. Sancho and Varane in before the end of July would have been unthinkable a few months ago.

They still need a DM though.

Ok now he's officially official official

Pogba rumored to have rejected new contract and on his way to PSG for either 45 or 50 million GPB. This will make me very, very, very sad but...if he rejects a 350k per week contract then there's not much you can do.

Would likely give Donny VdB a run in the first team if they didn't find a replacement.

Would hate to lose Pogba to PSG, but you have to get some value out of him now vs lose him for free next year

Varane likely to be announced within 24 hours
Dre_00
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes, it seems like Varane is done though official club announcement may linger much like Sancho's did. If/when it's finally confirmed, I think you could consider this transfer window to be one of the best, if not the best, in recent memory not only for the two players brought in but how early they've been brought in.

Now time for the hardest piece of the puzzle but the one most needed. Would love to see them go get Camavinga. He's not world class, yet, but at 18 he easily can be. And he could play that holding mid role better than any player United currently has.
Thunder18

Varane is such a great signing. Love to see him paired with Harry. I don't dislike Lindelof but I don't think he was the ideal pairing especially in European competition.

Camavinga would be a great signing too. He's young and really promising. If United does in fact sell Pogba, I won't be overly upset. Hopefully that more cash for another signing like Saul and/or Trippier

Telles is out till September. I'm guessing that could impact a Brandon Williams loan deal...at least for the 1st half of the season.
