Hard to look at a performance against a Brentford team that had little to play for and get anything out of it but definitely curious if Mata could have been a better used asset. I don't think he changes the result against any of the big teams but can't help but wonder if we don't drop points against Watford, Leicester, etc. with his skill, composure and passing.

I am a Mata fan so I am a bit biased but for me it seems rare for him to be in a game and not make others better. His passing / creativity / vision, etc. I know they are different players but not sure how Matic got so much favor over Mata.

I did not catch this game but I have it recorded and since he played it will be a rare after the fact watch for me....

Unfortunately, I think Mata's best position is currently occupied by Bruno. But you could argue that he still should have gotten a few more starts ahead of Bruno if for no other reason than to give Bruno a proper rest. Mata has played on the right before and while it's not ideal, I would also argue he should have played there a lot more especially with Rashford in poor form and Sancho being used primarily on the left as an inside forward.
