Looking like no Gyokeres till after the break. Even with a bigger squad, we are more or less in an injury crisis in our attack.

I'm bothered by the number of soft tissue injuries that appear to come from minimal contact. Odegaard's injury was pretty violent but the rest are frustrating.
If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.
Very frustrating, but if we are going to have an injury crisis, now is probably the right time to have it. The defense is playing out of its mind, not the most difficult Champions League match today, and while Sunderland is good, they struggle to score and its a game we still have a good chance to grind out a win from. Then, the international break.
Word is the Gyokeres is another hamstring injury but hopefully minimal since we pulled him off immediately.
What are the timelines for Martinelli and Madueke returning? Or has that not been put out there yet?

Wasn't all that impressed with Harriman-Annous when we saw him in the FA Cup. He's young and could still come good but I would like to see us grab a u21 ST with a little more upside in the summer to be our #3 ST next season.

I thought he had a rough first half and then greatly improved in the 2nd as he grew into the match. He started showing more for the ball and making some really good runs. Really should have had a goal with the attempt that Saka finished up.

He has some potential for sure. I'd just rather snag someone with greater immediate upside that would allow us to play Havertz in different spots (SS/AM behind the ST). Maybe snag a ST/W so we can find minutes for him in multiple spots? Maybe Yildiz for Juve (whom we have been linked)? He can play LW, ST & AM.
I'd get killed for posting this on reddit, but man sometimes I feel like Saka goes down really easy under challenges. There are plenty of times where he gets kicked to high hell, but sometimes he goes down really easily
Your not wrong. Sometimes the biggest defender can't take him down. Sometimes he folds at minor touches. Reflecting on that, it seems he folds when maybe the freekick would be better than whatever shot he gets from powering through?
I think you're right. Its usually on the cut ins where its at the top corner of the box. God spot for a lefty going direct or swinging in.

Also, even if he was playing he wouldn't be getting much work
Low bar for yellow cards both ways today.
Another thought on the young ST front..... curious if Dowman may have a future as a #9? He's already 6' at 15yo and I've read that his dad is 6'2". Don't see him getting as thick as VG but he could be a quicker Havertz.
