If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.

We just need him to get through Villa (****ing terrible scheduling btw for us to be the lunch time game on Saturday after Wednesday night).

If he can get through the weekend, you could potentially rest him for 2 weeks. Definitely don't want him playing Brugge and probably sit him for Wolves at home as well.

Saturday is a big match. Win and now 3rd place is 9 points off of our pace and we've turned the league into a two team race.

Really remarkable to be atop the table with a cushion given the insane injuries this season. Thank goodness for the added depth compared to the past

Playing DM in France. Possible Zubi successor. Would mean MLS stays at LB or moves to LCM long term.

Definitely have looked disjointed so far, but feels unlucky to be losing

Will be interesting to see how long Arteta waits to make changes.

Not sure what Eze was thinking on that goal.

Lovely move for the equalizer, Saka overlaps Odegaard, Gyokeres and Trossard both in good positions at the back post, and it falls to Trossard after Martinez's hand takes Saka's cross away from Gyokeres

Feels like some of the guys are getting tired (understandable)…going to need all the subs today

Odd that Trossard is getting subbed out within the half

Also, thinking of our schedule, have we played any of the top teams at home except City? Been away to Liverpool, United, Villa and Chelsea already

Lost at the death

That all went sideways when Hincapie lost it out of bounds rather than kicking it to the halfway line

That sucked.

Same old issues as always. Poor finishing means they don't convert their possession into anything that counts. Injuries making the defense shaky in key times. And just more bull**** at the back trying to maintain possession for no reason.

I think if he doesn't get it done this season, you really have to consider if Arteta can ever get it done.

It was lost much earlier, the result was just the proof of it. Injuries, tired legs, execution, coaching - all the excuses are there, just yet again, this team is leaking points. Arsenal played better in the second half, not sure why they didn't play better in the first half, but Villa certainly had great chances late in the second half.

Not conceding the season, but have just seen this similar series of events of dropping points in the past 5 years.

Frustrating.

The team is running on fumes. They've been playing a match every 72 hours and we've lost any depth advantage to injuries. Its never gonna be sustainable unless they can stay healthy

The attack really needs to figure their **** out. When they struggle, our defense usually comes through and picks up the slack, whether through clean sheets or set piece goals. When they defense struggles, the attack seems to only find a way to score 1 goal and miss several chances

I understand what you are saying, and don't necessarily disagree with it. What I don't understand is why this only seems happens to Arsenal in such an impactful manner to affect their finishing position by the last game of the year?

My BAS has moved from the Ags to Arsenal, so please forgive my feeling this club is again, teetering, even though they are still top of the table. Recent history is coloring my thoughts on how this plays out by end of season, though there is a long way yet to go and we actually have to see the games played. Hope Arsenal find a way through to success.

Arteta needs to figure out how to make Odegaard and Eze work together. Putting Eze out on the wing seems to limit his effectiveness. I know he wants Rice in the left 8, but considering Rice needs a rest, I hope he tries Eze and Odegaard together in the middle in Belgium.

Well we have 2/3rds of a season to go. Villa are the hottest team in the league right now, but we know Emery doesn't sustain it. Feels like their typical run. City just gave up 6 goals to bottom of the pack teams. Their defense is gonna give up goals and they're capable of dropping points.

We just came through and insane stretch of 2 weeks where we played bitter rival, best team in Europe, 2nd place EPL team, midtable team, 3rd place EPL team. All with a makeshift backline. 5 games in 13 days at that level is ridiculous.

I do wish Arteta would have rested Rice or Zubi in midweek for Norgaard.

I also think Saka needs to start being the world class player that every team needs to win a title. He has been average and nowhere close to what he usually produces

Really good take on the match. As I watched it unfold, started to really think if AFC could get out of there with a draw it would be great.

Hot team, playing at home, Arsenal guys on fumes, and the back breaker is no Gabi or Saliba. A lot AV's runs would have been snuffed out with at least one of those guys on the pitch.

Anyone have a take on the first goal AV scored? Somehow Eze is on the right side and scorer finds space without his recognition. Rice walked away shaking his head.

Some of guys I was watching with at the bar blamed Calafiori for going so far inside and making Eze have to cover that space. But I don't know if I agree with that.

And in any event, Eze had a lot of time to recognize Calafiori was marking a player on the inside and didn't have that area covered.

I think Trossard and Martinelli do much better. Oh well.
