I'm going to compare that roster to the Spurs, partly because I'm familiar with them and partly because the Spurs are the definition of a good roster and a contender. First, Defensive Rating. The Spurs worst DRtg is 106 (T - Gary Neal and Tony Parker). The Nets have 4 players worse than that, including two starters. The Nets best two DRtgs are Garnett at 99 and Reggie Evans at 100. The Spurs have 4 players at 100 or better (Duncan 95, Leonard 99, Blair 99, Ginobili 100, Splitter 100).
On Offensive Rating, the Nets have 4 players better than 110. The Spurs have 6. The bottom end of the distribution is pretty similar because there are a lot of efficient players on both teams.
A. Kirilinko's salary is 3mm, but the addition of Kirilinko is going to cost the nets almost 17 million dollars.
B. The Nets roster makes no sense. A ton of bad defenders and way too many guys that need the ball in their hands. And for this they pay $186 million next year in salary and tax.
C. Fortunately, to meld this mishmash of ex-stars, awful defenders, coach killers, and empty numbers guys into a cohesive and effective team they hired Phil Jackson. Wait, what? They hired a mental midget who has never coached before?
D. THE NETS ARE PAYING $186 MILLION NEXT YEAR FOR A TEAM THAT MAKES NO SENSE.
