Is anybody else having a hard time understanding how the Heat are going to get so much better?
1) Lebron says he wants max money. That is the key part of all this, He's getting a raise and that money needs to come from Bosh-Wade-Haslem's Money. So he's on the books for 21 million I believe in year 1 for a max.
2) Bosh- Wade- Haslem, All of those guys opted out of their contracts and will expect to get less per year, but more overall. Wade and Bosh both gave up like 40 million over the next 2 years and I think Haslem gave up 5 million. Even if all 3 agree to huge paycuts and Wade agrees to the biggest we are talking something like 16 million per for bosh for 4 yrs, 14 million for Wade for 4 years and Haslem for 2 million for 3 years plus some crazy front office job deal when he retires. Even if all of this happens, that still only leaves them around 5 million under the salary cap.
3) Kyle lowry is going to make more than $10 million a year, so throw that idea out the window right now. Washington is going to money whip Ariza and Gortat into signing. Who are you getting that is relatively young and can help the team? All those guys are going to go for the money since they haven't made it yet in their career.
4) What are we left with for 5 million? The heat still need a big man, and those never come cheap. Are we signing Paul Pierce? I don't think he goes there when he can go to the clippers and have a better fit. I just don't see how they get so much better. They need a PG, at least 1 big man, probably 2, and a backup SF. How is that happening?
5) The idea of them signing Anthony now with Lebron saying he wants Max Money is ludicrous. It ain't happening. Also, what happens when another team tries to offer Wade or Bosh stupid amounts of money? What if someone comes in to swoop up haslem at mid level money? What if Lebron gets smart and realizes he can go elsewhere and play with better, younger teammates and ownership willing to spend big $ on luxury tax payments?
What am I missing, someone help me out. Because I don't see them getting substantially better without Lebron taking a huge pay cut, and he just said that ain't happening.
