Wow. Great for Becky. Hopefully she can still be an NBA coach one day.

I wonder if this means Pop is going to coach longer. Messina and Becky wouldn't wait. But I guess Becky being the HC wasn't necessarily a given.

It's a good opportunity for her. I'm wondering if Will Hardy will be the one when it's all said and done.

TBH before Hardy left, I thought he would jump Becky and takeover. I could definitely see it. But who knows, Hardy may be taking over the reigns from Ime the way Boston is playing.

Good for her to get some HC experience somewhere else first.

Primo is shooting 58% for the season in San Antonio, so that's pretty good.

In more serious news: Johnson, McDermott, and Forbes all have ~100 three point attempts and are all over 40%, with Keldon Johnson at 47%. We finally have some shooting to space the floor.

I haven't watched the spurs much this year due to not having tv, but statistically it looks like we're only missing one piece and some experience playing together.

Never thought I'd see KJ lead the league in 3p%. He will stay on the league for a long time with that and his athleticism. Now let's see if he can keep adding to his offensive game, take off his blinders, improve his decision making and become a good defender. I think he can.

What's interesting is that with Landale playing pretty well and the possibility of Zach Collins playing soon, their front court could go from a big question mark to a strength.

Before the season started, I would have said that they needed to get a big guy in the draft. Now I think they can go for the best available offensive player regardless of position.

I think the only time you don't take BPA is if you're a top 4 team in the league contending for championship. Obviously cultural fit plays a factor too.

True but we have so many 6'5" guard types, it almost seems crazy to take another one but if that is what's there I guess you take them.

White started ultra cold, but last 15 games isn't awful. Not sure why his 3pt shot has dropped off so much this year.

Last 15 games:
  • 17.8p
  • 5.4a
  • 3.9r
  • 1.3s
  • 0.8b
  • 46%/30%/90% shooting
  • 30mpg

It will be interesting to see what happens with Walker. He has flashed some great moments but isn't all that consistent. I think he's an excellent spark off the bench. The question is what does he think about himself.

As for the draft, just keep stackimg guys who can play on both ends.

They missed him last night. Not saying they would have won with him but they would have had a better chance. His defense would have helped.

And tonight was a perfect example of our inconsistency. We let an awful pistons team hang around after having a 17 point lead and we lose in OT.

A game they should have won. Should never lose to the worst team. I always feel spurs have a hard time playing in Detroit.

They desperately need Murray back. With him not running the point they have no one. Not even a back up. I wish Keldon could be more consistent. I'm waiting for him to take over but still waiting.

This team is just wildly inconsistent which is expected from a young group. To be honest, apart from his recent heat streak, KJ has been a pretty big disappointment this year. Teams have figured out (easily) how to guard him and he rarely gets to the bucket nowadays. Really hoped we would have made a bigger jump this year and it hasn't happened.

It's fun to root for these guys, and a playin spot seems possible but then again, I don't want another 11th-14th pick.

KJ has looked...off...the last week or so. He's looked slow, making more boneheaded mistakes than usual, just seems out of it. Honestly, part of me is wondering if he's sick and/or injured and playing through it. He seems less focused.

Bryn...I mean, I don't mean to crap on the guy after a season high and the main reason we were even close to beating Detroit, but he's been frustrating me. I'm sure he's doing what the coaches are asking him to do, but during garbage time against Memphis, he was hunting for his shot and not getting the young guys involved. Even against Detroit, at times he'd have MAJOR tunnel vision and just run into a wall for a stupid turnover. I don't know, something is off with his body language/demeanor. I'm sure getting some low minutes/DNPs has him frustrated and that may be all this is. But this team has been successful over the last month or two because of 1) moving the ball, and 2) playing team basketball. I'm probably reading too much into what I'm seeing on the screen.

We need DM back. We're seeing how much he runs this team on the court but also with his leadership.

Jock Landale with maybe the worst inbounds pass in Spurs history but the Celtics can't score at the buzzer. Spurs win!

I caught the last few minutes of the game and Spurs were fortunate not to have the game go to OT with Jock basically giving the ball to a Celtic player to tie at the buzzer.

Defense helped them in the final moments and Murray makes the team better which we all knew.

Derrick was the initial inbounder, but after nearly getting a 5 count and calling a timeout Pop switched it to Jock.

Yeah, I think that will be the last time Jock inbounds for a while! Not only did he give the ball away but he gave it to their hottest player going toward their basket.

Murray, Spurs hold off Celtics 99-97 in Popovich's 2,000th

Gregg Popovich became the first to coach 2,000 NBA games with the same team, and Dejounte Murray scored 22 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs past the Boston Celtics 99-97 on Wednesday night.
