1.5 hours of special guests talking about Pop on Lowe post. It's awesome. And yes I might cry.

So proud of Pop. I think it's incredible that he stayed with our team through the rebuild. It really speaks to his character. While I would love to be in a good position to get a good player in the draft, we are only one game back in the loss column for the play in. If Pop were to somehow take this team to the playoffs, that would be one of the biggest feats of his career outside of his championships. **** it. Let's do it.

Also, I think JRich should start and move Devin over to the 3. We held one of the best offenses in the league to 102 points. McBuckets is essentially just a taller, higher IQ Bryn Forbes who can move without the ball.

FWIW spurs have 5th easiest strength of schedule.

Josh Richardson has been a very nice addition for us. I understand keeping him in the second unit, since our defense has been BAD since moving White. So I actually think the play is move Devin back to the bench for JRich if we are going win now.

Josh can create a little for himself and stretch the floor, plays solid defense. He's just a nice piece to have and I'm thrilled we got him even if at the time the fit seemed odd to me. I see it now. He fits great with our guys. He's not as good as White, but he doesn't need the ball in his hands to give value to the team.

The hardest thing about a rebuild is the patience with these young players. You know that has to be difficult for a coach that has had veterans for so long. Dejounte has show promise and just turned the corner this year. Lonnie looked like he would never get to a consistent place but it seems like he has finally flipped the switch. Then after the individual players hit their stride you have to find the right rotations for them to work together.

I know he gets criticized for sitting players but I think Pop has a definite purpose for sitting players and it isn't always about rest. It's about experimenting with lineups and seeing how players react in different situations. Trying to find the right balance which makes the difference between being a champion and being a runner up.

Man. This would be incredible. Even if Utah doesn't perform well this post season, I still feel like it would be hard to pry him away.

Snyder would be a home run to replace Pop. Would he really want to leave his current situation to lead the rebuild here in San Antonio?

I think if Utah can't hold onto Donovan, I can see it.

Why would you live in San Antonio to rebuild with spare parts when you could live in Salt Lake City and coach one of the most talented teams in the league that you helped build? The only way this makes sense to me is if Utah is going to have to blow it up for cap reasons.

Next year Conley is going to be 35. Bojan 33. Gobert 30. Clarkson 30. Gay 36. Whiteside 33.

Utah is 10mm over the luxury tax line this year and is 10mm over the tax next year with just 11 players. Also, they paid tax two years ago, so they are in on repeater.

With their players in the prime or just on the back side of it, they are essentially a 51-win team.
This year's first goes to Memphis from the Conley trade. In two years, their first go to OKC. They have no incoming 1st round picks.

Not an elite team, lack of draft capital, key players hitting the end of their career.

Might be time to go to a team with a better future.

Of the current top 6 teams in the league (records going into tonight's game), 5 of the 6 have coaches that are influenced or heavily influenced by Pop.

1. Monty Williams - player on Pop's first teams, intern and basketball ops with Spurs later on
2. Taylor Jenkins - also spent time in basketball ops, coached at Austin Toros. Then followed Bud to Hawks/Bucks
3. Steve Kerr - played for Spurs/Pop.
4. Spoelstra - I got nothing.
5. Quin Snyder- Previously mentioned in thread, but also former Toros coach.
6. MIke Budenholzer - longtime Spurs assistant
