If it's just the ACL, there's a chance it didn't hurt. When I tore mine, I felt no pain initially, which according to the doctors I talked to isn't uncommon at all. They said sometimes people think they just tweaked something, keep going and blow the rest of their knee out.shack009 said:

Yep.. vastly different experiences from case to case. I tore everything and definitely knew it as the lower leg was dang near disconnected. Had a friend that tore an ACL, played in the game the next week. Just thought he was a sprain he could tough thru. A week later it wasn't getting better and MRI confirmed the tear.
So we should officially be in tank mode now, right? I don't see any reason to fight and claw for a play-in spot just to get the 8th seed with no big men and no point guards. Maybe we lose enough to get the 9th or 10th pick and then trade down on draft night for additional assets. Or maybe we finally get lucky and move up in the lottery to a Top 4 pick.
We're basically in purgatory now. Not much reason to win, not much reason to lose. This is as bad as it gets

Dallas has too many wins to tank. Dallas is 7 games up in the win column over SA for 9th in the lottery.. which gives about a 10% chance at a top 4 pick. Four games up on Phoenix (11th in the West) and Phoenix has lost 11 of 15 games. Their last 3 wins are against a tanking NOLA, tanking Chicago, and tanking Utah.txagman1998 said:

I don't think Phoenix makes up those 4 games to get into the playin, even though they don't control their own pick. They are an absolute dumpster fire.
I've never seen a team go through such an endless cycle of injuries like this.

Grimes and Luka aren't injured. Being this injured was a choice made by Nico. Not to mention Kyrie probably doesn't get injured if he isn't having to carry the entire load on his own.

Has nothing to do with the basketball gods because this **** started well before the trade.
You could actually argue the start of the injury plague set the trade in to motion. The one month timeline would match up with Luka's injury on Christmas.
The team has dealt with all types of **** before camp even started when Luka got an injury in a pickup game before Vegas. Exum got an injury in the Olympics that kept him out for almost 3 months of the season.
The team got the bubonic plague at one point in December and Naji was dealing with it for over a month. Both Maxi and Lively got long term injuries before the trade.
Just about everything that could go wrong this year has gone wrong. Including being too good to be out of the running for a top pick at this point.

I was told being a fan of the successful Mavs team to criticize the trade was not being a Mavs fan. When Nico and the new owners did what they did to this team, they deserve what they get.

Second, you aren't a Mavs fan, according to you. You've admitted you did not watch the NBA until Luka was on the Mavs, you weren't watching games when he was injured, then you said you were going to become a Lakers fan.

Confirmed. Torn ACL....8-12 month recovery time, so he will miss most of next season too. Win-now Mavs window just got much smaller.

No on ball creator for most of next year. So this probably sticks a fork in the only 2 chances they had, however slim they were. This team will be ancient in 26-27

This is disgusting. A torn ACL is a minimum 9 month recovery window which means he'll be lucky to be back by christmas.
There's an actual, probably chance next season is already cooked. I actually believe it may be time to consider selling off PJ, Gafford, AD, & even Lively to start the rebuild process.
