It boils down to this - Dumont doesn't have the first ****ing clue about basketball. At all. And Nico took advantage of the situation to rid himself of a pain in his ass. That's really what this is all about at its core. Nico knew he was pulling a fast one and had the right sucker in charge. And now that sucker is just parroting the bs Nico fed him to get the trade done because it's all he knows.
But still doesn't make sense that Dumont wouldn't ask Cuban his opinion.

Something went sideways with them last spring is why. Cuban was supposed to continue leading basketball ops but that ended before the offseason. My money is that Nico saw an opportunity to take control and played them against each other. Cozy up to Dumont and now you're the man really running the bball show.
It blow my mind that he could convince anyone to do anything. He looks and sounds like an absolute dumbass when he speaks. After my first conversation with him as a new owner, I would be thinking "this guy is the GM?"
Back to my original point that Dumont has no clue about basketball. He was an easy mark. What he does know is being boss, so I have a feeling it was somewhat enticing to elbow Cuban out to make sure there is no ambiguity as to who is really running things.
